Black garlic jeyuk set lunch for two plus bossam, near Danyang Market
In short
Heukmaneul Boribap is a barley rice restaurant right at the entrance of Gugyeong Market in Danyang, Chungbuk. Two adults ordered the black garlic jeyuk (stir-fried pork) set for two and added black garlic bossam (boiled pork), comparing seasoned jeyuk against plain, savory bossam at the same table, and keeping the bibimbap sauce light made the meat-to-sauce ratio just right. It's a solid pick for pairing market browsing with a hearty lunch on a Danyang trip.

I went looking for a place to properly try black garlic, one of Danyang's signature ingredients. Two adults visited and ordered the black garlic jeyuk (stir-fried pork) set for two, then added black garlic bossam (boiled pork wraps) on top so we could taste both. If you're looking for a hearty lunch spot near Danyang's Gugyeong Market, this might be worth checking out :)
Location — right at the entrance of Gugyeong Market

A lot of people stop by Gugyeong Market during a Danyang trip, and this place sits right in front of it, so it's perfect after a stroll through the market. The market entrance is literally right there! If you're searching for a barley rice restaurant near Danyang's Gugyeong Market, this one's worth adding to the search.

It's also close enough to walk to Danyang Aquarium, which makes it a great spot for family trips with kids too, both for location and for how the day flows. Danyang is famous for garlic, so there are tons of garlic-themed restaurants around, but what I liked here was that beyond regular barley rice, they serve a whole range of dishes using black garlic specifically.
Menu — black garlic jeyuk set and black garlic bossam set

True to its name, Heukmaneul Boribap's main menu is the barley rice set. There are two options — black garlic bossam or black garlic jeyuk. If you're not a fan of barley rice, you can switch to white rice! We originally planned to just order the black garlic jeyuk set for two, but once we saw the menu board, we wanted to try the black garlic bossam too.

So after going back and forth, we ended up ordering the black garlic jeyuk set for two plus an extra black garlic bossam! It might've been a bit much for two people, but hey, we're traveling — you've got to try everything you're curious about, haha. In the end it worked out great, since we got to taste both jeyuk and bossam side by side.
Black garlic jeyuk and a barley rice bibimbap tip

Jeyuk goes so well with rice, making it a perfect lunch dish. And since this jeyuk uses black garlic, it had a slightly different feel from your usual jeyuk-bokkeum (stir-fried spicy pork). The sauce paired really well with rice, so once I put the jeyuk on top of the rice, my chopsticks kept going back for more.
Barley rice is all about mixing it right in with vegetables, isn't it?! They give you a good variety of bibimbap-style side dishes here too. Every table has its own sauce and sesame oil, so honestly, not making bibimbap out of it would almost be a crime, haha.
A tip for the best bite: keep the bibimbap sauce on the lighter side. Since you'll be adding more seasoning again when you eat the jeyuk and bossam, keeping it light beforehand gets the overall sauce ratio just right.

How was the black garlic bossam we added?
And then there was the black garlic bossam we added on! Honestly, it was one of the dishes I was most curious about that day. I did hesitate a bit about whether to add bossam while eating the jeyuk, but since the two of us like splitting several dishes, we ended up ordering it — and I'm glad we did.
Bossam is delicious on its own, but it was even better wrapped up with the side dishes. Jeyuk was already seasoned, so it went well with rice, while bossam let you enjoy the plain, savory taste of the meat itself — so the two dishes each had their own charm. Thanks to that, this day turned into a proper meat feast between jeyuk and bossam, haha.

How much to order for two
If two adults are visiting, whether to just get the black garlic jeyuk set or add bossam like we did really comes down to how hungry you are. On this Danyang trip, I wanted to try food with local character, and being able to have both jeyuk and bossam made with black garlic at Heukmaneul Boribap was great. Personally, I'd put this on my list of recommended Danyang restaurants. It seems especially well suited for people who, when searching for Danyang restaurant recommendations, want more than a quick bite near the tourist spots and are after a proper Korean meal.

If you're visiting as two adults like us, ordering the black garlic jeyuk set for two and adding bossam to share a few dishes worked out well. If you're hunting for Danyang restaurants and want to try the region's signature garlic-based food, this place is worth a stop. What I liked most was how well it worked for combining market browsing with a meal during a Danyang trip. If you were looking for a barley rice restaurant near Danyang's Gugyeong Market, or want a hearty Korean lunch in Danyang, Heukmaneul Boribap is worth adding to your shortlist.

Adding black garlic bossam to the jeyuk set like we did lets you taste both meat dishes, and it made for a pretty satisfying meal even as a party of two. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for lunch near Danyang's Gugyeong Market, or anyone wanting to try food with a bit of local character.
