Bucheon Korean restaurant for charcoal-grilled pork: Gim Myeongju

In short

Gim Myeongju Tteuranchae Bapsang Bucheon Main Branch is a Korean restaurant in Bucheon, Gyeonggi, serving pot rice, cheonggukjang, and an array of side dishes. I ordered the Tteuranchae table setting for two and added charcoal-grilled pork, then loved mixing cheonggukjang into the pot rice like sulbap. Verdict: a hearty choice for a family meal or dining with parents.

Today, I’d like to introduce Gim Myeongju Tteuranchae Bapsang Bucheon Main Branch, a great restaurant in Jak-dong, Bucheon, for when you want to enjoy a generous, neat, and wholesome Korean meal!

Lately, there are days when I crave wholesome Korean food with warm rice and a variety of side dishes rather than something overly intense. Gim Myeongju Tteuranchae Bapsang, which I visited this time, has a large dining room and plenty of parking, so it seemed ideal for a family meal or a visit with your parents too 😊

What are the parking and atmosphere like?

The first thing I loved was the extremely spacious parking area! Parking is more important than you might think when visiting by car, and the restaurant is large with plenty of spaces, so it was an easy, comfortable visit. Since it is a place for enjoying neatly prepared Korean food and pot rice, it also had an atmosphere well suited to family visits or gatherings.

Gim Myeongju Tteuranchae Bapsang Bucheon Main Branch is a place where you can enjoy a variety of wholesome Korean table settings and Korean set meals.

I added charcoal-grilled pork to the Tteuranchae table setting

We ordered the basic Tteuranchae table setting for two and added charcoal-grilled pork as our main dish! Even the basic spread came loaded with a variety of side dishes, so it looked incredibly satisfying from the start.

Take as many self-service bar side dishes as you want

Another advantage here is the self-service bar! It was great that we could take as many of the side dishes served with the meal as we wanted. You can go back for the dishes you enjoyed without feeling self-conscious, so anyone who loves Korean food will probably be even more pleased 😊

How to eat pot rice and cheonggukjang like sulbap

Above all, my favorite items were the pot rice and cheonggukjang (rich fermented soybean stew)! The piping-hot pot rice was wonderful, and the cheonggukjang served alongside it had such a deep, savory flavor that it went beautifully with the side dishes. Here’s one little personal tip for enjoying it!

Put cheonggukjang into the pot rice and eat it like sulbap (rice mixed with soup or stew) 🤭

Add the savory cheonggukjang to the rice remaining in the pot and give it a quick mix. The rice and cheonggukjang went so well together that it was a different, delicious way to enjoy them. They are tasty separately too, of course, but I really recommend trying them together like this!

Of course, making sungnyung (scorched-rice tea) with the pot rice is delicious too, haha.

The charcoal-grilled pork we added as a main dish made the whole meal even more substantial. With the neat side dishes, pot rice, cheonggukjang, and charcoal-grilled pork all together, it truly felt like a generous meal!
