Today, I visited Geobugi Dongne (거북이동네), an aged-meat specialist in Namcheon-dong. The meat quality was great, and I loved being able to enjoy a tidy self-service bar and dessert, too. Delicious meat, substantial sides, and a spacious restaurant with excellent ventilation! I was especially impressed by how clean it was, without that typical barbecue-restaurant smell.

Warm brick interior and a spacious dining room
The warm, neat red-brick exterior welcomes you from the start. The phrase “Meat aged for 14 days—the slower it is, the better it tastes” caught my eye. There is a Catchtable waiting kiosk at the entrance, making things convenient even when there is a wait, and the spacious, clean interior would work wonderfully for a family meal or company dinner.

Each table has an ordering tablet, so it was also really convenient to take our time choosing while looking directly at menu photos.
Ordering aged pork belly and five-layer pork belly
Menu

There are many meat options, including aged pork belly and aged pork neck, and at around ₩5,000 per 100 g, the value felt exceptionally good considering today’s prices. We ordered 200 g of aged pork belly and 300 g of aged five-layer pork belly. The first order must be at least 500 g, and the table setting fee is ₩5,000.

Unlimited self-service salad bar and banchan

The hidden star here is the unlimited self-service salad bar. Fresh wrap vegetables such as lettuce and perilla leaves were kept in a clean refrigerated display to preserve their freshness, and there was plenty of scallion salad and assorted sauces, too.

You can take whichever banchan (Korean side dishes) you like on a divided tray. There were plenty of meat-friendly choices—crisp seasoned bean sprouts, bracken fern, white kimchi, gat kimchi (mustard-leaf kimchi), macaroni corn salad, pickles, and more—so it was fun putting together different combinations.
Juicy 14-day-aged pork belly

Our aged pork belly arrived. Perhaps because it had been properly aged for 14 days, the bright red meat and the ratio of savory fat were just excellent.

As it browned on the grill, its savory aroma seriously got my appetite going.

With a bite of nicely cooked pork belly and pungent scallion salad, savory juices burst across my mouth.

Making a full wrap with fresh lettuce, thick pork belly, and scallion salad was simply superb. The meat was never dry: crispy outside, moist inside, and so easy to keep eating.
Bibim makguksu, stew, and pot rice

After enjoying the meat, we tried the side dishes that no barbecue meal should be without, one by one.
- Bibim makguksu (spicy mixed buckwheat noodles): Generously topped with sesame seeds and crushed seaweed, the sauce was sweet and tangy without being overly sweet, really waking up the appetite. Mix it well, wrap a piece of golden grilled pork belly in the noodles, and eat it in one bite—the umami explodes.
- Doenjang jjigae (soybean-paste stew): Packed with tofu, zucchini, enoki mushrooms, and radish, it had a refreshing, pleasantly spicy broth. The earthy flavor reminiscent of cheonggukjang stew made it even more delicious. It was the perfect relief pitcher, washing away the richness of the meat.
- Freshly cooked pot rice and sungnyung (scorched-rice tea): The pot rice, gently topped with two cute ginkgo nuts, was glossy and wonderfully nutty. After scooping out the rice, we added hot water to make sungnyung; even though I was full, topping it with salty perilla-leaf pickles or gat kimchi kept me going back for more.

Finishing with corn ice cream

This is the dessert corner. You can have coffee or ice cream. I happily had corn ice cream for dessert. The soft, sweet milk-flavored ice cream cleansed my palate, making it a completely perfect finish to the meal.
Geobugi Dongne was a place where I could enjoy high-quality aged meat at reasonable prices. The generous self-service bar, well-made meal dishes, and dessert were all satisfying. If you are craving delicious aged pork, I definitely recommend visiting at least once!
