Gangnam café for double vanilla madeleines: Bakerist Brown
In short
Bakerist Brown is a large bakery café near Gangnam Station in Seoul, spanning from basement level 1 to the third floor. I tried its salt cream coffee, double vanilla madeleine, and an eight-flavor Gangnam Sand gift box while exploring the red-brick building and cozy third-floor seating. Verdict: the salty cream coffee and dense madeleine were an especially great pairing.

Maybe it’s my strange contrarian streak, but when I choose a café or restaurant, I tend to pick somewhere unique rather than a chain. And big cafés are always more comfortable for spending time in, plus it’s fun to wander around the space! So this time I went to Bakerist Brown, a large café famous as a bakery near Gangnam Station, hehe. Spending time at a good café is always so fun and happy.. >///<♡
Getting to Bakerist Brown from Gangnam Station
I went from Gangnam Station!

Escape through Exit 11, the holy land of good food near Gangnam Station!

Turn at ABC Mart. Come to think of it, it feels like every good restaurant near Gangnam Station is down this way. Is this some kind of portal to good food? Keep walking straight up!

And we’ve arrived!!!! As someone who loves red-brick buildings, I was squealing before I even went in. I almost kissed the building a hundred times. The European vibes are absolutely real....💕💕💕💕💕

There was terrace seating outside, too. Sitting out there when the weather is nice like it has been lately would be seriously blissful!! There are lots of plants around the terrace as well, so it feels fresh and airy.
Floors, spaces, and seating
Basement level 1
First-floor ordering area

There are no separate seats on the first floor—just the ordering and waiting areas.
Second floor
Third-floor group seating
There’s group seating on the third floor, so it seemed convenient for study meetups and the like! The third floor had the coziest atmosphere, in my opinion haha.
Bakery and drink menu

As you’d expect from a bakery near Gangnam Station known for its breads, the bakery selection was extensive! There were classics such as croissants and madeleines, along with trendy desserts like wappu salt bread. They were also selling seasonal fig desserts right then—packed with a seriously generous amount of figs. The Gangnam Sand cookies caught my eye, too. I’ve been so into sandwich cookies lately.

The drinks included coffee, ades, and tea. For an extra charge, you could add a shot, syrup, or oat milk, and you could switch to decaf, too. Bakerist Brown near Gangnam Station looking after both my lactose intolerance and my good night’s sleep.. ><
Salt cream coffee, madeleine, and eight Gangnam Sand flavors

I ordered the salt cream coffee, the eight-flavor Gangnam Sand box, and a double vanilla madeleine, hehe.

I’d already had a filling lunch, so I ordered the Gangnam Sand cookies to go. They packaged them perfectly for gifting. Which means: a gift from me to me ^ㅇ^..
- Raspberry & white chocolate
- Sweet pumpkin & butter
- Caramel & white chocolate
- Chocolate & cream
- Earl Grey & white chocolate
- Matcha & cream cheese
- Peanut & butter
- Black sesame & cream
When I got home and tried them, the amount of cream was just right, so it didn’t overwhelm the cookies, and every added ingredient came through really intensely. Personally, the London Fog one with Earl Grey and white chocolate was the tastiest!!
I completely understood why the salt cream coffee is their signature coffee! At first I thought it would be an ordinary cream latte, but it was a flavor I’d never had before. The cream was savory and salty rather than sweet, so I instantly got why it’s called a salt cream latte! The coffee underneath was full-bodied, with its aroma coming through beautifully. That coffee layer was actually sweet, and it paired so well with the salty cream. Sweet and salty means you can eat and drink forever, you know >.<
Next, this madeleine!! Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from it, but it was really delicious. It was a fairly dense madeleine with the buttery flavor shining through. True to its name, the double vanilla madeleine had a lovely vanilla aroma, too! I worried it might be too sweet, but it wasn’t sweet at all, and it went so well with the salt cream latte!! If you’re looking for a large bakery café near Sinnonhyeon Station with a great atmosphere and lots of desserts, give Bakerist Brown a visit!!!
