Incheon seafood galbijjim dinner for two: Haemokjeong Seoknam

I visited Haemokjeong, a well-known spot near Seoknam Station in Incheon, for dinner with my boyfriend during our Incheon trip. I found it while searching blogs for what to eat in Incheon, and the seafood galbijjim — seafood and short ribs together in one dish — caught my eye, so we decided to go.

To cut to the chase: the seafood was generous and the ribs were tender, so the two of us walked out really full! The price was reasonable for the portion too, making it a good pick if you're looking for a hearty meal near Seoknam Station.

Walking from Seoknam Station to Haemokjeong: parking and wait time

Haemokjeong is about 536m from Exit 6 of Seoknam Station. We were on our Incheon trip by car, so we parked at the nearby Gangnam Market public parking lot.

The restaurant wasn't hard to find, and we visited around 6pm on a Friday without a reservation — we were seated right away with no wait.

What the dining room at Haemokjeong Seoknam is like

My first impression walking in was that the place was cleaner than I expected.

Rather than the typical old-school seafood stew place vibe, it felt more like a clean, modern Korean restaurant. The interior was spacious with good spacing between tables, so we could eat comfortably.

It was nice for a date, but the roomy layout also seemed well-suited for family meals or bringing your parents. And the staff were so kind! Genuinely kind through and through — it made the whole meal a pleasant experience.

Seafood galbijjim for two at Haemokjeong Seoknam: 48,000 won

What we ordered was the seafood galbijjim for two, ₩48,000!

The portion was generous from the moment it arrived!! The dish combines seafood and short ribs, packed with octopus, squid, roe and other seafood, topped with a heap of minari (water dropwort) — the visual alone was impressive. There was almost no fishy smell or off-flavor, and overall it was clean and easy to eat. Eating it together with the minari added a fragrant note to the rich, deep flavor of the seafood stew — a great combination.

The seafood is good, but the short ribs are the tender highlight

With a name like seafood galbijjim, you'd naturally expect more from the seafood side, but the ribs at Haemokjeong were satisfying too. There was more rib meat than I expected, and above all, the meat was tender. It wasn't tough, so it was easy to alternate between it and the seafood.

The advantage of ordering one seafood stew dish is that you get to enjoy several flavors in one order — both seafood and ribs. The seasoning is on the spicy side. Neither of us handles spicy food especially well, but it was still manageable. Eating it alongside the side dishes in between helped tame the spiciness haha.

Side dishes at Haemokjeong Seoknam: seaweed soup and cold naengchae salad

The basic side dishes included seaweed soup and a cold salad (naengchae), among others.

Since the seafood galbijjim is on the spicy side, having these mild or refreshing side dishes alongside it was really nice. Especially after the spicy sauce, a sip of seaweed soup felt like it reset my palate — they paired really well together.

We also ordered a bowl of rice to go with it. Normally with a dish like this you're supposed to finish off with fried rice or noodles to do it right...! But the seafood and ribs were so generous that we ended up too full to even order extras.

Is 48,000 won for two worth it at Haemokjeong Seoknam?

With both seafood and ribs in one dish, and a portion big enough to fill up two people, I personally felt it was decent value for money.

It's not exactly cheap, but once the food actually arrives and you dig in — octopus, squid, roe, plus ribs — the price starts to make sense. Especially considering the two of us were too full to even order fried rice, the portion was definitely generous! haha

Where to eat a filling Korean meal near Seoknam Station

This was a place I found by searching during our Incheon trip, and overall, from the food to the service, Haemokjeong was satisfying.

The biggest draw was being able to eat spicy seafood stew and tender ribs together, and the seafood had no off-putting smell, so it was clean and easy to eat. The restaurant was also spacious and clean, making it good for couples as well as family meals out. Next time I revisit, I'd love to try the seafood galbijjim again, but I'm also curious about the other menu items I haven't tried yet.
