Myeongdong jokbal for two friends with different palates: Miss Jokbal
In short
Miss Jokbal Seoul Myeongdong Branch is a jokbal (braised pork hock) restaurant between Myeongdong and Euljiro 1-ga Station in Jung-gu, Seoul. On a weekend evening after department store and duty-free shopping, two friends ordered the Emperor's Jokbal at 58,000 won and shared a full side spread of kimchi kalguksu (kimchi noodle soup), gimbap (seaweed rice roll), japchae (glass noodles) and cheonsachae salad, and the lightly salty jokbal read differently to each of them. The portion at Miss Jokbal was enough for three or four people, so no extra sides were needed.

Last weekend my friend and I did a whole department store and duty-free tour,,, we browsed at Lotte Department Store and Shinsegae Department Store, I wanted to get a Pandora piece that suited me and my friend wanted to buy Miu Miu sneakers so I tagged along. (Went to see my puppy at my parents' place too,, thanks in advance for my Chinese snacks 😚)
My friend happens to really love jokbal,, so after searching around we settled on this place, and the spread was so good that we both left satisfied. The portion was honestly huge, enough for three or four women to share ✨ This time we visited Miss Jokbal Seoul Myeongdong Branch.

Where is Miss Jokbal Seoul Myeongdong Branch, and what are the hours?

Miss Jokbal Seoul Myeongdong Branch sits between Myeongdong and Euljiro 1-ga Station, which is such a great spot for someone like me to grab dinner after shopping,, Myeongdong has so many shops and things to see so it's great for a date too! The spread is generous and the jokbal is tasty, and finishing it off with a drink sounds good too, so keep this in mind ,,,🖤

When I visited it was a weekend evening,, definitely a busy time slot! There was a mix of everyone, Koreans and foreign visitors alike.

I ordered the Emperor's Jokbal!! The set looked really solid, so if the sides matter to you as much as the jokbal-bossam itself, I'd recommend the Emperor's Jokbal like I did ⭐️

Kimchi kalguksu and three house sauces, served right after ordering
At Miss Jokbal Seoul Myeongdong Branch, the kimchi kalguksu (noodle soup) and three sauces (ssamjang, salted shrimp, mala sauce) came out right after we ordered ,,🤤

Simple, but it takes the edge off your appetite right away 〰️
You set the pot on the burner and boil it, then once it's bubbling you drop in the kalguksu noodles. I was really looking forward to eating hot noodle soup alongside jokbal, but for people who like it mild, the saltiness might be divisive. (My friend and I have totally opposite palates,, if I love something my friend usually doesn't ;;)

Honestly how could you not eat this,, I love this kind of thing so I enjoyed it a lot with the jokbal lol

There were bean sprouts in it too so it was nice to slurp the broth ,,🤤 They gave a generous amount of kalguksu noodles as well!!!

What comes with the 58,000 won Emperor's Jokbal at Miss Jokbal
Right as we were about to dig into the noodles, the Emperor's Jokbal arrived,, isn't the spread just so generous?!! Obviously had to try it 🖤

Gimbap (seaweed rice roll), japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), salad, stir-fried kimchi, tofu, lettuce and perilla leaves, pickles, radish pickles and kimchi. And to finish, cheonsachae salad, more gimbap, and mukmuchim (seasoned mung bean jelly) ,, seriously so generous 🔥🔥

The jokbal was so soft and chewy, my friend and I both went 'waaah' the second we saw it and grabbed a piece each! It was thinner than expected so you can easily eat two pieces at once 🖤

We also ate it together with the kimchi kalguksu ,,

How the lightly salty jokbal tasted to two different palates
The gimbap didn't have cucumber in it, which I hate, so I ate it happily! Overall the jokbal was on the salty side, so eating it with the sides made it even saltier, so I kept switching over to the kalguksu in between ,,, while my friend, who likes stronger seasoning, ate it just right ⭐️ The seasoning didn't get tiring and was applied just enough, actually you don't really need the sauces lol

But you can't resist mala sauce, right?!! First time I've seen a jokbal place offer mala sauce 🥺 Such an unexpected pairing but it was surprisingly delicious, whoa,,,

We wrapped some in lettuce too ,,, and wow, the portion was seriously huge lol Since jokbal isn't cheap, we ordered to eat generously, but even so the amount was massive!!!

Once you finish the jokbal on top, there's still plump, chunky jokbal underneath ,, so chewy and delicious I nearly burst ;;; my precious jokbal 🫶🏻
Is Miss Jokbal Seoul Myeongdong Branch worth it after shopping in Myeongdong?
If I'm craving jokbal in Myeongdong, I think I'll head to Miss Jokbal!⭐️ The jokbal is chewy and tender, and the side spread is so generous that you don't need to order extra sides — this alone was filling and satisfying ,, of course, next time I'd love to try the fire jokbal with the cheese potato pancake 🥵
