Root touch-up matte brown tone-down at Gangdong hair salon Juno Hair

In short

Juno Hair Cheonho Rodeo Branch is a premium hair salon on the Cheonho Rodeo street in Gangdong, Seoul, close to Cheonho Station. After a month of brassy, faded color and grown-out roots, senior stylist Chaerim consulted using a color chart and toned everything down to a matte brown, blending the roots seamlessly. The result was a calm, non-stuffy brown rather than flat black, with the roots fully cleaned up — a satisfying fix.

Main photo of hair toned down to matte brown

So my hair from a month ago had already gotten noticeably lighter and my roots had grown out, so I went in for a natural tone-down color! At first I loved the bright color, but as time went on it started turning brassy red and my hair looked more damaged... This time I went to Juno Hair Cheonho Rodeo Branch to tone it down naturally~

I visited right at my reservation time and the staff greeted me kindly. Comfortable vibe from the first impression! The interior was kept neat and clean, and the seats were spaced out enough that I never felt cramped during the service.

I also liked that it's so accessible from Cheonho Station — easy to visit after work or on weekends without any hassle.

Hair condition and consultation before the dye (BEFORE)

Faded, light hair before dyeing
Hair with yellow and red tones before dyeing

Since I'd dyed my hair bright a month before, the color had faded a lot, and it had turned yellowish and reddish! Especially the grown-out roots, which I really didn't like looking at 😬

Checking hair condition before the consultation

Rather than just covering everything in black, I wanted a natural color that would tone things down and last a while, and stylist Chaerim recommended a color that suited me, so I agreed right away and we went for it (for reference, my personal color type is spring light).

Color consultation using a dye chart

She explained the brightness levels and how the color would fade over time using a color chart, which made it easy to decide 👍 I also liked that she thoroughly checked my current hair condition first before the consultation.

The matte brown dyeing process

Green tea served during the treatment
Nuts served alongside the drink

They gave me drinks and snacks while I was getting the treatment. There were quite a few options, and I picked green tea. They even gave nuts, so it's good to snack on if you get hungry haha.

Dye being applied carefully during the treatment
Dye being applied evenly down to the roots

During the treatment, she applied the color carefully and evenly, and kept checking in to see if I was uncomfortable at all, so I could relax through the whole process.

Shampoo room seat where the scalp massage was given

Getting a refreshing wash in the comfy shampoo room. The senior stylist handled the whole shampoo herself, which made me trust the place even more, and she really did a thorough job... She gave me a scalp massage and all my tiredness just melted away.

Final drying process using a diffuser attachment

After the coloring was done, I looked in the mirror and loved it even before it was dried lol. Sometimes places don't have this funnel-shaped diffuser attachment for drying, and little details like this are the ones that stick with me. (I really hate getting poked in the eye or having my makeup wiped off while drying my hair.)

The matte brown tone-down result (AFTER)

It wasn't a stuffy, flat black at all — it was a calm color that looked way cleaner. The parts that had gone too light were smoothed out naturally, and overall the shine came back, so my hair looked healthier than before too.

Tone-down colors can sometimes make your face look dull, but I didn't get that feeling at all — my skin tone actually looked more even, which was satisfying. The roots were cleaned up neatly too, and she gave me a simple blow-dry finish, which I loved even more.

Aftercare tips

She also gave me some aftercare tips — washing with lukewarm water instead of hot water helps the color last longer after dyeing. And since color can bleed out, dry off as much as possible after showering before putting on clothes!

Why I recommend this as a hair salon near Cheonho Station

If you're looking for a hair salon recommendation near Cheonho Station, I'd recommend Juno Hair Cheonho Rodeo Branch — the consultation, the service, and the finish were all satisfying. (There's just something about Juno Hair that makes you feel like you can trust it?)

Senior stylist Chaerim in particular is really good at catching the style you're going for, so even if you say something vague like "I want it natural, sort of like this," the consultation will get you a look that suits you perfectly.

Instead of just going dark automatically, she said it's better to dye considering your existing color and hair condition, since that makes the color last longer and fade more naturally, so I'd recommend getting a thorough consultation 💕 (The color I got is matte brown~) My boyfriend also complimented it a ton, said it looked way prettier haha.
