Why I took my mom to Heiro Jamsil Lotte World

I went to my mom's place last weekend and thought it was about time for her to get her hair done. I've been thinking lately that a bob looks prettier than long hair — though she might've thought I was just saying her long hair looked messy, haha. Because honestly, my mom was happy with her current style... she wanted to keep the long hair.

Anyway, the two of us decided to try Heiro Hair, which has a reputation in Jamsil for doing gorgeous hair for moms! Time to be a good daughter for once, plus complete my mission of dragging grandma over to our place — off we went!

Heiro Jamsil Lotte World parking and how to find the salon

Parking at Heiro Jamsil Lotte World is shared with Lotte World, Lotte Department Store, and the mart, so the lot is big, but on weekends there'll be a lot of Lotte World visitors, so public transit might be better then, haha. They do give you a parking voucher, but it's not enough if you want to shop too... haha. If you take public transit you can shop around Lotte World Mall comfortably too ^^ haha.

I went on a weekday so it was super easy getting in. Guess not that many people were at Lotte World.

If you take the elevator right in front of the Lotte World ticket booth entrance, Paul Bassett is right there below, and Heiro Hair is right behind it — so it wasn't hard to find at all!

What the salon is like inside

The Heiro Jamsil Lotte World salon has a wood-toned, clean, bright feel. And it felt very hygienically managed. Sometimes when you go to a hair salon there's hair all over the floor and it feels a little gross, but Heiro Jamsil Lotte World was super tidy!

My mom usually wears her long hair tied up. (Mom, then why even get a perm...) haha.

Consultation with designer koi: from long hair to a bob

So here we are consulting with designer koi. She seems to have done a lot of hair for middle-aged clients. Honestly, as the daughter I was totally into koi's own hairstyle. Mom's heart started leaning toward a bob too... haha.

Discussing what length of bob to go with. The consultation was quite detailed, and it succeeded in changing my mom's mind! I personally prefer a natural vibe over a heavy perm look, haha.

We also added a root perm, since my mom's hair loss has always stressed her out. It got so bad she'd even considered a hair transplant and scalp tattoo. If you're worried about covering hair loss, definitely go see koi! We were super satisfied — the after photos are below, take a look :)

Removing the self-dye and shampooing, all done by koi

After seeing the state of my mom's hair from years of at-home dyeing, koi first applied a product to remove the built-up self-dye. Oh, they make products like that these days too — pretty fascinating.

Even so, the shampoo came out clean with no dye bleeding! And designer koi did the shampoo herself! Amazing. It felt like going to a one-woman salon. A salon where your own designer handles everything from start to finish without a single assistant's hand touching your hair — the best!

How the bob cut turned out

Oh wow, finally, my mom's cut-off hair.

Just from the cut alone my mom's hair looks so much fuller... I love the length, love the light layering too! Haha, is koi's hand a magic wand or something? It was cut so beautifully.

Root perm and magic setting to cover thinning hair

After the cut, on to the root perm and magic straightening. My mom kept saying it felt different from root perms she'd had before, haha.

A root perm that looks like it'll really help with my mom's hair loss worries. Koi checked every section super carefully!

She even rolled the front section, haha. Ooh, this feels like it's going to work. Look at how full the sides look... haha. Moms' hair really needs volume to look elegant.

Now for the neutralizing step.

After drying, she did a second cut! Oh wow! Doing the root perm together with the magic straightening really did cover the thinning areas so much — both my mom and I were amazed! And the whole look was so much tidier now! This is exactly the look I wanted for my mom.

How to style the bob at home

Look at that root volume... haha. Koi explaining the styling method. A hairstyle that's easy to maintain day-to-day is the best, and here it's literally just blow-drying heat onto the roots to finish. How simple is that... haha.

Total success at covering the hair loss!! A style my mom is happy with too.
