Changwon BBQ for a family of three: naengmyeon wraps at Jeju Doldam

Jeju Doldam Sangnam Main Branch is a Jeju black pork BBQ restaurant on the first floor of the Heritage Hotel building in Sangnam-dong, Changwon. Two adults and one child shared the Jeju black pork mixed set of skin-on pork belly and chewy pork neck (550–600g, 59,000 won) with crab doenjang stew and nurungji (scorched rice) and bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles). Staff grilled the meat from start to finish, so the family could focus on talking. Thanks to the thick pork belly, chewy neck meat and generous side dishes, Jeju Doldam is well worth recommending for a group dinner in Sangnam-dong.

Sangol Chueojeong was so satisfying that we took 5 servings of loach soup home.

Jokbal spot near Changwon Station with no gamey smell: Songgane

Songgane Wang Jokbal Bossam Changwon Station Branch is a jokbal (braised pork trotters) and bossam (boiled pork wraps) restaurant near Changwon Station in Uichang-gu, Changwon, open for 33 years. The sweet-and-sour tray makguksu with raisins stood out most, making Songgane a solid Changwon Station pick for anyone put off by the usual jokbal smell.
