How we found Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch in a Goyang restaurant search

I had errands in Goyang and spent the afternoon there, then wondered what to eat for dinner. Searching for good restaurants in Goyang, Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch came up! I saw the photos and my mouth started watering,,,, I also needed something my kid could eat, and jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) with tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) is a combo my kid loves, so we headed straight to Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch.

Parking and seating at Jjamppong Jijeon: big lot, tables for 2–4 and group rooms
Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch had a pretty spacious parking lot. Super convenient if you're driving over! Parking matters a lot for our family, so I liked that we didn't have to burn energy over it before we'd even eaten. Thinking about details like this, it seemed like a good spot for families searching for good restaurants in Goyang.

Walking in, the space was quite large. The tables weren't cramped together, and there was a mix of seating — tables good for 2 to 4 people, and seating for larger groups too.

Oh, and the interior was really clean and hygienic. They said staff are assigned to specific areas of the kitchen and hall and spend over an hour cleaning every day after closing!

It looked good for family meals or gatherings too. When eating with a kid, it's not just about the food — if a place is too cramped or busy, it gets stressful. But here there was enough space to sit comfortably and eat.

What's on the self-bar: side dishes, drinks and free rice
Wait, what!! Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch even has a self-bar. I,, actually eat a lot of danmuji (pickled radish) at Chinese restaurants,,,haha, and sometimes it feels awkward asking staff for more multiple times. I just like moving at my own pace,,haha, so I loved the self-bar,,

A variety of side dishes were laid out. As I was checking out what was at the self-bar, a staff member came over and explained things to me!? Honestly,,, hygiene is such a big issue at restaurants these days!? They said Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch never reuses side dishes. Everything is cooked and prepared the same day to stay fresh. And if there's any issue with the ingredients, or they're even slightly less fresh, they toss them without hesitation,,,, maybe that's why the side dishes tasted so fresh.

There are desserts too!? Omija (schisandra berry) juice, plum juice, peach iced tea, blue lemonade, even coffee!!! Drinks after the meal too, isn't that great? The owner is so generous.

Unlimited rice!!!! Don't you ever get a craving for jjajang-bap (rice with black bean sauce) while eating jjajangmyeon,,? Or want to dunk rice into the broth while eating jjamppong,,? For that, come to Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch! I loved that rice was unlimited. When you take a kid to a restaurant, feeding them only noodles can feel a bit,,, incomplete. All the moms get it, right,,?haha But having rice ready like this made me really appreciate the owner's thoughtfulness! :)

What we ordered: Jijeon jjajangmyeon, Jijeon jjamppong, tangsuyuk and jjamppong mandu
We ordered Jjijon Jjajangmyeon, Jjijon Jjamppong, and tangsuyuk. As a side we also ordered jjamppong mandu (dumplings), which we were curious about. Both the jjamppong and jjajangmyeon spice levels were adjustable.

Mixing self-bar multigrain rice into the Jijeon jjajangmyeon sauce
Coming to a Chinese restaurant and not eating jjajangmyeon would be a shame~ I picked Jjijon Jjajangmyeon as an easy dish to share with my kid, and my kid ate it happily. The adults ended up loving it too — my husband said, "Should've ordered a bigger portion,,?" haha, and I replied, "Right,,,," We ate it up so well. The sauce coated the noodles perfectly, and our chopsticks were busy.
After we finished, we brought over some multigrain rice from the self-bar and mixed it into the leftover jjajangmyeon sauce. Oh, and I noticed the sign said you can ask for extra jjajang sauce or jjamppong broth on request!! We didn't ask this time, but that's great news for anyone who finishes the noodles and still wants rice too. ^*^

Jijeon jjamppong at the basic spice level: can someone spice-shy handle it?
First I tried the Jjijon Jjamppong broth with a spoon, and wow,,,,,,, so good!!!!! The broth had real depth. I'm a spice wimp so I ordered the basic level, and even that was spicier than I expected. But it's the good kind of spicy, you know what I mean? That's exactly what it was.

Even someone weak to spice like me could enjoy it. Being a spice wimp, I still kept reaching for more.

The broth was generously loaded with vegetables and seafood, so it was fun eating the toppings along with the soup. Broth, noodles, and vegetables together made for a really filling meal.

Glutinous rice tangsuyuk with sweet potato fritters, a hit with our child
The sweet rice tangsuyuk had a chewy coating and the sauce paired well with it. The sweet potato fritters served alongside felt like a nice twist.

I cut the tangsuyuk into small pieces and my kid ate it really well. The fresh raw onion was also crisp and paired nicely with the tangsuyuk.

The side order: jjamppong mandu (spicy seafood dumplings)
The jjamppong mandu we ordered as a side was also a hit!!!!! I always order fried mandu (dumplings) at Chinese restaurants, and these were genuinely delicious. Would've been a shame not to order them~~
Would we return to Jjamppong Jijeon for another family dinner with our child?
This time we stopped by for dinner after an afternoon out, and with the spacious restaurant and variety of seating, it seemed like a solid spot for family meals. If you're looking for good restaurants near Seooreung, the generous parking is worth keeping in mind too. It's also worth considering for anyone searching for good restaurants in Goyang who cares about parking and seating.
If you need a menu the whole family can eat, Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch is worth adding to the list. If you're looking for good jjamppong, the adjustable spice level is worth noting too. Next time I think I'll dunk rice into the jjamppong broth as well. Starting with noodles and finishing with rice,,,, I can't be the only one who does that,,,? :)
