Last weekend I had a wedding invitation gathering with a college friend. Looking for a quiet bar for the second round, I found a good-vibe whiskey and cocktail bar. Today's post is about Sidebar in Pop, located in Gangnam.

Where is Sidebar in Pop and what are its hours?

Sidebar in Pop is a whiskey and cocktail bar on the 5th floor of 5 Gangnam-daero 122-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. It's open daily from 19:00 to 03:00 the next day, closed every Monday. Group bookings and reservations are available, along with a waiting area, WiFi and easy payment.

Finding the entrance: Sidebar in Pop from the street

Here's the outside of Sidebar in Pop, a quiet bar in Nonhyeon. Heading up to the 5th floor, you'll see the front entrance, styled like the entrance to an upscale barbershop. You walk in through a hinged door.

Sidebar in Pop is a 5-minute walk from Exit 3 of Nonhyeon Station and Exit 3 of Sinnonhyeon Station. Parking is available for a fee at the Nonhyeon Elementary School public lot, 270m away.

Inside Sidebar in Pop: lighting and seating options

Here's the inside of Sidebar in Pop, a quiet bar in Nonhyeon. Maybe because it opened recently, the interior felt really clean and upscale.

There was a variety of seating — a bar table good for solo drinking, 2-seat and 4-seat tables, and group seating.

The lighting was soft and the floor-to-ceiling windows made just sitting there feel like great atmosphere. Each table had its own soft indirect lamp, keeping things pleasantly dim.

They were giving away a free vanilla ice cream and yakgwa (Korean honey cookie) set through a Naver photo review event, so I joined right away.

What we ordered: baked brie cheese and five whiskeys

What we ordered was baked brie cheese + 2 cocktails + 5 whiskeys.

We ordered baked brie cheese, which pairs well with whiskey, and got a free vanilla ice cream through the review event.

Chocolate and pretzels, which go well with whiskey, came out as the basic snack.

For the first drink, everyone ordered whatever they felt like. One friend who can't drink much ordered a light, tasty cocktail.

The baked brie cheese came in quite a generous portion, along with crackers that went nicely with the cheese.

The brie was genuinely delicious paired with whiskey and cocktails.

This was the ice cream and yakgwa set we got free through the review event — impressive quality for a free giveaway.

For our second round, we ordered three whiskeys. Everyone picked a different one, so it was fun to try a bit of each.

Sipping whiskey little by little seems perfect for a long conversation. The great atmosphere made talking even better.
