I was concerned about my frizzy, unruly hair. Without having decided exactly what style to choose, I went to Urban Ground Hair Sangwangsimni Station Branch (어반그라운드헤어 상왕십리역점) for a consultation first.

Before the service, I chose an Americano from several drink options. I drank the strong coffee, served with snacks, during the roughly three-hour appointment.

Was the space comfortable during the long appointment?

The salon was spacious and clean. There was room between the seats, so I felt that everyone’s personal service space was well maintained.

The shampoo area was also kept neatly organized. My hair was washed nearly three times during the service, and the chair was so comfortable that I felt sleepy each time.

Which services did I choose for my frizzy hair?

Before the service, the remnants of my previous perm were frizzy, making my hair look untidy. I did not have a clear idea of what I wanted, but after talking with the designer, I was offered two styles that would suit me.

In the end, I chose a neat tassel cut. I also decided to have hair straightening to smooth out the remaining uneven curls and a root perm for the flattened sides. After being told that frequent perms had damaged my hair, I also received a hair treatment.

The designer also showed me reference photos while explaining the tassel cut and styling. It made the finished style easier to understand than an explanation alone.

What was the hair-straightening and root-perm process like?

First, my hair length was trimmed, the solution was applied carefully, and then heat was used. Because the degree of damage differed across my hair, the healthy and damaged sections were treated separately in two rounds.

Next came the hair treatment. While I waited after nutrients were applied to my hair, a towel was placed behind my neck at the shampoo bed, which made it comfortable.

Having the hair straightening and root perm together made the process complicated and hands-on. The designer handled every service and explained each stage in detail, which gave me confidence. This appointment took about three hours.

How did my hair change after the service?

The frizzy remnants of my perm were smoothed out, and my hair fell neatly into place. I was satisfied because it gave me the tidy impression I wanted.

I liked that the consultation helped me settle on a direction even though I had not decided on a style. The designer also explained aftercare methods in detail once the service was finished.
