Bucheon Korean restaurant with a plum-omija drink bar: Gim Myeongju
In short
Gim Myeongju Tteuranchae Bapsang Sinjung-dong Branch is a Korean set-meal restaurant 385m from Exit 3 of Sinjungdong Station in Bucheon, Gyeonggi. The soy-marinated crab set meal costs 31,000 won and arrives with yellow-rice pot rice, cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew) and self-bar side dishes, plum and omija drinks, with the leftover rice mixed into the crab sauce and a scorched-rice tea finish. The soy sauce was not too salty and went well with rice, and the self-bar sides made one meal at Gim Myeongju filling enough on its own.

How to order and what is on the self-bar

You order through a tablet at the table.

There's also a self-bar.

You just scoop as much extra side dish as you want into a bowl. This self-bar was one of the reasons I liked this place.

You can help yourself to more japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), stir-fried eggplant, namul (seasoned vegetable) side dishes and more, as much as you like. You can also choose between yellow rice and barley rice, so it was easy to eat plenty of rice and sides.
With plum and omija (five-flavor berry) drinks too, the meal finished off cleanly. I tried a little of each — haha.

The seating tables are wide.

What comes with the 31,000-won soy-marinated crab set?
I ordered the soy-marinated crab set meal.

There were several side dishes served as basics, so it was fun trying them one by one.
From namul to japchae to stir-fried eggplant, a good variety of sides came out that all went well with rice.

Every single side dish here is genuinely tasty and healthy, so I think it'd be perfect for a birthday visit too. My beloved japchae~~ and braised potatoes are my absolute favorite haha. Eating the soy crab with the side dishes, a bowl of rice disappeared in no time.
This is the yellow rice.
This is the cheonggukjang. Seeing it made me think of my mom. I remembered she used to love cheonggukjang — haha.
Making some scorched-rice tea.
The crab was plump. Soy-marinated crab is my absolute favorite food. A bowl of rice, gone in a flash — haha. I usually love soy crab and eat it often, and here the soy sauce wasn't too salty, just right for eating with rice!! The crab meat was nice and plump as always, and it went great over rice. I mixed the leftover pot rice into the crab marinade and finished off with scorched-rice tea at the end.

Snacks, side dishes to take home, and Tteuranchae Café
They sell various snacks too. I spotted twisted donuts and scorched-rice crackers.

Side dishes are also sold to take home. There's an introduction to the yellow rice too.

After finishing my meal, I noticed Tteuranchae Café on the way out.

The inside of Tteuranchae Café was spacious. It seems like a nice place to relax after a meal.

Coffee is only 1,000 won too, which seemed great for a cup after the meal.
Is Gim Myeongju worth a meal in Bucheon?
I love soy crab so I visited with high expectations, and there were so many side dishes served alongside the crab, plus the self-bar let me grab even more sides and rice, so I left having eaten a really filling meal. The soy crab in particular went great with rice, and after mixing the pot rice into the crab marinade and finishing with scorched-rice tea, the whole meal felt clean and complete. If you're looking for a soy crab set meal or Korean food in Sinjung-dong, Bucheon, give it a try♥️
