Why Cham Dwaejitgan, the Bucheon Sinjung-dong pork belly spot with folding doors?

Cham Dwaejitgan Bucheon Sinjung-dong Branch is a pork belly restaurant where the folding doors open wide so it feels like eating at an outdoor tent-style joint. I was looking for somewhere to eat dinner in Sinjung-dong and walked in when I saw the doors flung open!

It has that open-air feeling like eating outside, but inside the air conditioning was blasting cool air, which was perfect for weather like this haha. If you're looking for a Bucheon Sinjung-dong pork belly place where you can grill meat and stay cool, this one's worth checking out. So good for going with friends!!

What the open-front dining room feels like

Walking inside, I found a space neatly decorated in black tones. There were quite a lot of tables, so it seemed like a good place to come with a group. But what I liked most was the wide-open folding door!

With the outside fully visible, it didn't feel stuffy, and it had a bit of that open-air tent restaurant vibe, but being under the air conditioning kept it nice and cool haha. Each table also had a smoke vent installed, so the smoke didn't spread everywhere while grilling and I could eat more comfortably than expected.

What to order: black pork belly, neck and gabrisal

Ordering was easy through the tablet at the table. There were meat options like black pork belly, black pork neck, and gabrisal. There was also Jirisan kudzu cold noodles that's great to have after the meat, so we ordered noodles at the end too.

Meat, minari, and kimchi on the handmade grill pan

As soon as the meat came out, its deep red color already looked delicious. Once we put the meat on the grill and cooked minari and kimchi along with it, the smell was so good from that point on haha. Since they use handmade grill pans, the oil didn't splatter everywhere while grilling, which was nice. And the staff grilled everything for us, which was so convenient, TT.

The minari, grilled kimchi and perilla wrap combo

The meat alone is delicious, but at Cham Dwaejitgan there were so many accompaniments to try, so it was fun mixing and matching combinations.

Dishes of ssamjang, spicy sauce, salt, and wasabi
Side vegetables including minari, scallion salad, and bean sprouts

There was ssamjang (Korean dipping sauce), spicy sauce, salt, and wasabi, plus minari, scallion salad, garlic, lettuce, bean sprouts and mushrooms to add. Lettuce and perilla leaves were also there, so it was great for making proper wraps.

For me, the tastiest combo was putting golden-grilled meat on a perilla leaf along with grilled kimchi and minari!

The meat had juicy, chewy texture with every bite. Combined with kimchi that soaked up a little of the meat's fat and fragrant minari, it never felt greasy and I kept reaching for more haha.

Dipping it lightly in salt to taste the meat itself, or adding a bit of wasabi, both worked well, so it was good for mixing to your own taste. If you're headed for Bucheon Sinjung-dong pork belly and want a wide variety of accompaniments along with the meat, this place should suit you well.

Jirisan kudzu cold noodles to finish

Jirisan kudzu cold noodles with floating slush

We had the Jirisan kudzu cold noodles together with the meat. The broth, with bits of slush floating on top, looked refreshing just by looking at it haha. The tangy-sweet, clean broth went well with the chewy noodles. After eating pork belly, my mouth still had that savory fattiness lingering, but one bite of the cold noodles cleared it right up! And of course, eating meat and noodles together was delicious too haha.

What's in the free service zone

On the way out after finishing the meal, there was also a free service zone to use. There were disposable aprons, toothpicks, mouthwash, hair ties, and chargers, plus candy for a palate cleanser. These are the little things you often need at a BBQ restaurant, so it was convenient to have them all gathered in one spot. Especially things like hair ties or mouthwash — they're the items you end up reaching for more than you'd expect when eating meat haha.

What stuck with me about Cham Dwaejitgan was getting to enjoy that open-air tent restaurant vibe thanks to the folding doors, while staying cool throughout. I could also try a wide variety of accompaniments like minari and grilled kimchi with the meat, so I never got tired of just one flavor. If you're craving Bucheon Sinjung-dong pork belly on a day when you want pork belly loaded with minari and kimchi, give Cham Dwaejitgan a try haha.
