The amount of king crab and snow crab four friends ate
For four women, one king crab and two snow crabs came to a total of ₩300,000. I cannot remember the market price, but if you tell the owner how many people are in your party, they will suggest an appropriate amount!
Since there were four of us, we thought ₩300,000 worth would be more suitable than ₩350,000 worth, but honestly, I think we could have finished ₩350,000 worth too. If you are usually big eaters—or say, “We eat quite a lot!”—they will probably recommend a belly-bursting amount.
My friends and I had a hotel staycation at Ananti Gijang! Gijang Market was only about 15 minutes from our accommodation, so we went for delicious king crab and snow crab.

Gijang Myeongpum Daegae tanks and second-floor dining area
When you come to Gijang, seafood is a must, right? This time, we decided to have king crab for the first time in a while and visited Gijang Myeongpum Daegae. There are quite a few places specializing in snow crab when you look up good restaurants in Gijang, Busan, but we came here because we wanted to enjoy it properly.

As soon as we entered, the tanks filled with snow crabs and king crabs were the first thing that caught my eye. Seeing the crabs right in front of us definitely raised expectations for freshness. Since we had come all the way to Gijang, I wanted to try fresh local snow crab, and the first impression was good.

The dining area is on the second floor.

A father of no fewer than five children..! My trust level instantly went way up.

Prepared snow crab and king crab leg meat
After we sat down, ordered snow crab and king crab, and waited a little while, they arrived already prepared for easy eating. They looked so full of meat that I wanted to dig in right away. It really is best while it is warm.
I tried the leg meat first, and it was tender and moist. I especially liked the subtle sweetness. The clean, delicate flavor distinctive to snow crab came through so well that it was delicious even without much extra seasoning.
Personally, when I eat snow crab, I love pulling the leg meat out in one go. The legs were plump with meat, so every bite was really satisfying. Snow crab eaten after coming all the way to Gijang somehow does feel different.

Finishing with crab-shell rice and doenjang-jjigae
And there is something you absolutely cannot leave out when eating snow crab: the crab shell. After diligently picking out and eating the meat, I mixed rice with the roe and innards left in the shell. The rich, savory, lightly salty flavors came together so deliciously. Crab-shell rice at the end of a snow crab meal really is the perfect finish.

When you order rice, doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew) comes with it too!

There is also a self-service bar, so you can ease your hunger with banchan (Korean side dishes) while you wait.

A family gathering meal near Gijang Market
There were foods to enjoy alongside the crab too, so it was nice to alternate between them and the snow crab. Focusing on the main snow crab while having the accompaniments in between made for a very filling meal.
More than anything, just being in Gijang put me in a good mood. You can have delicious snow crab and see the sea after your meal, so it seemed like a nice outing route near Busan too. It would be great for eating out with family or taking your parents for a meal. It would also be nice to stop by after driving to Gijang with friends or a partner. Gijang Myeongpum Daegae is somewhere I will think of when I want delicious Gijang snow crab.

We used the innards from the king crab shell as a sauce for dipping the meat! By the end of the meal, I was much fuller than I expected. Before eating snow crab, you might think the portion looks small, but as you slowly pick out the meat, it is more filling than you would think. Highly recommended for a family gathering at a good restaurant near Gijang Market!!
