Today I’m sharing my visit to Bueokgan Restaurant, Shinsegae Simon Busan Premium Outlets, an essential stop on a shopping outing in Gijang, Busan. After having fun shopping at the outlet, you start to get surprisingly hungry and look for somewhere nice to eat, right? Bueokgan, a popular Western restaurant in the Busan Shinsegae Outlet, is on the first floor of Gijang Outlet. From the interior and atmosphere to the quality of the food, it was a place I was really happy with, so let me introduce it right away!

From the outside, Bueokgan caught my eye with its upscale brick exterior and atmospheric sign. Once inside, the space was even larger than I expected, and the interior was truly stylish!

A spacious, cozy European-style space

The warm wooden tables and chairs, soft lighting, arched windows, and vintage objects came together to make me feel as though I had stepped into an elegant yet cozy European-style restaurant. The space was roomy, with plenty of distance between tables, making it just right for a relaxed meal and conversation after shopping. Each table had a tablet for ordering, which made it convenient, too.

A late lunch, with pizza and salad sold out

I visited Bueokgan for a late lunch that day. Since it is such a well-known hot spot for Western food in Gijang, unfortunately every pizza and salad item was sold out! I was a little disappointed because I really wanted to try the wood-fired pizza, but it also made me think this is a proven favorite that so many people visit that ingredients run out quickly. So I made a satisfying order from the pasta and gnocchi menu instead. We ordered shrimp anchovy oil pasta, truffle mushroom cream gnocchi, and lasagna!

Seeing all three delicious-looking dishes fill the table put a smile on my face before I even took a bite.

Truffle mushroom cream gnocchi that became my all-time favorite

This was Bueokgan’s best dish of the day, and my all-time favorite gnocchi! The sauce was so dense and rich that the truffle aroma and deep mushroom flavor filled my mouth.

Above all, the round potato gnocchi were served warm, lightly crisp on the outside, and perfectly chewy and tender inside. Load them up with the thick cream sauce and you get richness at its absolute best.

Next was an oil pasta generously filled with plump, springy shrimp. The anchovy’s distinctive savory depth and the oil’s nutty flavor were absorbed beautifully into the noodles rather than sitting separately, so the umami really exploded!

Although it was an oil pasta, it was clean rather than greasy and lightly salty, making it an excellent match for the cream gnocchi.

Classic lasagna that everyone will enjoy

This dish brought together layers of meat sauce between wide lasagna sheets and plenty of cheese baked on top.

The fresh, full flavor of the tomato sauce, the texture of the meat, and the nutty melted cheese came together in a classic taste that children and adults alike would enjoy without hesitation. It was disappointing not to try the sold-out pizza and salad, but every new dish we tried—the pasta, gnocchi, and lasagna—was excellent, making this a very satisfying meal at Bueokgan.

If you want to enjoy high-quality Western food in a pretty, atmospheric space during a shopping break, be sure to visit Bueokgan Restaurant on the first floor of the Shinsegae Outlet in Gijang, Busan! I especially recommend trying the truffle mushroom cream gnocchi. Next time, I’m planning to come a little earlier so I can definitely try the pizza that was sold out!
