₩3,900 soju and ₩2,900 beer drew me into this Yeongdeungpo bar

Today I want to introduce Yeokjeon Pojangmacha Yeongdeungpo, a bar I visited while looking for a good spot for a second round in Yeongdeungpo. There are so many bars and restaurants around Yeongdeungpo Station that it's hard to decide where to go, but that day I was looking for somewhere easy on the wallet, and I got pulled in by a sign that caught my eye — soju at ₩3,900 and beer at ₩2,900! These days it's common to see a bottle of soju priced over ₩5,000, so even a second-round bar can feel like a bit of a burden. That's why this kind of honest pricing was the first thing that grabbed my attention. After actually visiting, I found it wasn't just cheap — the variety of side dishes and the overall food quality were solid too, making it a comfortable place for a first round or a second. I think it would suit anyone looking for a bar near Yeongdeungpo Station for a casual drink.

Side dishes hearty enough for a meal, dakdoritang included

True to the name Yeokjeon Pojangmacha (pojangmacha meaning a street-tent-style bar), the food menu had a wide range of dishes that pair well with drinks. In particular, there were dishes like dakdoritang that you can enjoy with broth in a hearty portion, so it felt like I was drinking and getting a bit of hangover relief at the same time. These days a lot of places have you order one spicy dish and just drink, but here there were menu items substantial enough to eat like a full meal, which I liked. Dishes like dakdoritang are great for sharing among several people, and there was a good range of other food to pair with drinks depending on group size or taste. Above all, considering the price, the food quality exceeded my expectations. It wasn't just cheap — the taste held up too, which was satisfying. It would work well whether you come for a proper meal as your first stop or drop by as a second-round spot after eating elsewhere.

Plenty of seating, so group dinners feel easy

Walking into the place, I liked that there was more seating than I expected. The spacing between tables and the overall vibe felt relaxed, good for small groups of friends and also comfortable for larger parties. Since there are a lot of companies around Yeongdeungpo Station, plenty of people come here after work for a company dinner or a casual after-party, and this place seemed well suited for that kind of gathering. Because the drink prices are so reasonable, it also helps cut costs when a larger group visits. So if you're looking for a meeting spot near Yeongdeungpo Station, this could be a solid, budget-friendly option. Rather than a place with an elaborate atmosphere, it has more of a pojangmacha feel — somewhere to sit comfortably and enjoy good food with a drink — which actually suits casual gatherings like friend meetups or company dinners even better.

Fun drink names like 'garo,' 'sero,' 'geokkuro' and friendly service

Going around bars lately, you often come across places selling drinks with fun names beyond the usual soju and beer. Recently some places use Saero soju to sell drinks under playful names like 'garo' (horizontal), 'sero' (vertical), and 'geokkuro' (upside down). I was personally happy to see Yeokjeon Pojangmacha Yeongdeungpo doing this too. Instead of just ordering and drinking, you end up looking at the menu and going 'wait, what's this?' with the people you're with, which adds a bit of fun. These little touches gave us something to talk about with friends and made the atmosphere feel even more relaxed. Also, the staff member who served us that day was a foreigner, and their Korean was excellent. There was no trouble communicating at all, and orders and requests were handled quickly, making the whole visit very comfortable.

Would I go back for a Yeongdeungpo Station meetup?

Overall, the biggest strength of Yeokjeon Pojangmacha Yeongdeungpo was that the drink prices weren't a burden while the food was still genuinely good. With dining and drink prices constantly rising these days, ₩3,900 soju and ₩2,900 beer felt genuinely appealing. When you visit with a larger group, the savings on drinks alone add up, making it a decent option for company dinners or gatherings. With plenty of seating and a wide range of dishes, it's comfortable for meeting friends casually and also fits well for a drink with coworkers after work. If you're looking for somewhere around Yeongdeungpo Station that isn't too pricey for a casual drink, I'd recommend it for either a first or second round. If you're searching for a meeting spot near Yeongdeungpo Station or a budget-friendly bar there, it's worth checking out. With good food at a low price, I'd like to come back the next time I'm drinking in Yeongdeungpo.
