Bucheon Korean BBQ with sliced potato wraps: Cham Dwaejitgan

In short

Cham Dwaejitgan Bucheon Sinjung-dong Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant near Sinjung-dong Station in Bucheon, Gyeonggi. We ordered four servings of Boseong green pork for two, enjoyed the grilling service, sliced potato wraps, and fried rice. Verdict: a great pick for trying pork with lots of side-dish combinations.

Cham Dwaejitgan near Sinjung-dong Station

We came after work on Friday but there were no seats, so we came back the next day, haha. That is how wildly popular Cham Dwaejitgan is 👍 It is an easy visit, just three minutes on foot from Exit 3 of Bucheon Sinjung-dong Station and Lotte Department Store. For parking at Cham Dwaejitgan, you will need to use a nearby public parking lot.

The space is very roomy too, so I recommend it for company dinners in Bucheon. We visited at a quieter time and had such a comfortable, relaxed meal.

Four servings of Boseong green pork and generous side dishes

Cham Dwaejitgan uses Boseong green pork and Jirisan black pork. You can choose which one to order, but for us, Boseong green pork only '- '! My husband and I ordered four servings of meat between us. Let's go, let's go 👊

Soon, they set out this generous spread of side dishes. Everything I like is here, all of it. I really love a barbecue restaurant that has mushroom wasabi. And the cabbage salad is really delicious too. It has a bit of a Japanese-style dressing feel, shall we say?

There is a self-service bar too, so we decided to pick up any extra side dishes or tableware we needed here '- '!

A low-splatter grill and fluffy steamed egg

The meat arrived looking so fresh. Apparently, the grill is designed so grease does not splatter. It really did seem to splatter less, probably because the grease drains away quickly underneath. And with the grilling service taking care of this delicious meat, all we have to do is sit back and enjoy it.

While the meat was cooking, the bomb steamed egg arrived. Hot, soft gyeran-jjim (Korean steamed egg) is love 🫶

Our table was completely loaded. We waited for the meat to cook like baby birds waiting to be fed '- '

Doesn't the meat look incredibly fresh? You can tell just by watching it cook 👍

They move the cooked meat onto the wide iron griddle below. Then it is time to dig in, haha. The minari (Korean water celery) here is not tough at all and is seriously delicious. The grilled bean sprouts and kimchi, needless to say, are great too.

Different ways to enjoy samgyeopsal

Try the classic pairings with samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly), one by one, as you eat. You will discover your own favorites.

I also found it really tasty with the garlic scapes here. Their seasoning is neither too strong nor too mild—just right.

As the remaining gabrisal (pork neck) and hangjeongsal (pork jowl) cooked, we grilled sliced potatoes alongside them.

I have usually only had grilled potatoes on their own, but this was my first time grilling sliced potatoes and using them to wrap the meat at Cham Dwaejitgan. Wrapped this way, they were richer than expected, and the potato flavor still came through beautifully.

Roll up some minari, add the mushroom-wasabi sauce, and eat it with the meat—it is incredibly good too. With so many side dishes, there are so many ways to enjoy the pork. This is the kind of excellent samgyeopsal spot near Sinjung-dong Station that makes a return visit feel inevitable.

The hangjeongsal was wonderfully chewy too. I recommend trying it when you visit. It went exceptionally well with the mushroom wasabi.

Finish with pleasantly spicy fried rice

Isn't fried rice the classic Korean way to finish a meal?

They sizzle and stir-fry it, and before long, the delicious fried rice is ready. It is nutty and pleasantly spicy—yes, fried rice is absolutely a must.

They even have Garglin mouthwash, dental floss, and lollipops, which is perfect for freshening up before heading out. Cham Dwaejitgan keeps things neat right through the finish.
