Myeongdong restaurant for terrace pizza and wine: Seventy Four

Oof... my head. What does autumn mean? Daytime wine~ I do enjoy daytime wine now and then in autumn, so off to Myeongdong Cathedral for an outing with Aesun and Gwansik! This is Seventy Four Myeongdong Cathedral Main Branch (세븐티포 명동성당본점), a pizza place Aesun herself approved of.

It is a restaurant inside the Myeongdong Cathedral chapel, and it seems to do brunch and café service too! Wedding guests were having coffee here after a ceremony, and seeing people getting married with lovely people in lovely weather made walking in feel even nicer!

Seventy Four Myeongdong Cathedral Main Branch is on the chapel’s first floor. As soon as she saw it, Aesun said we could eat first and then take a lap around the cathedral, so that is exactly what we decided to do.

An outdoor terrace for a beautiful day

Gwansik said he wanted to eat outside, so we scampered right out.

Once we came out to the terrace, the view was just too good~ It is truly perfect for outdoor brunch on a nice day.

Tomato pasta and white wine

This place is well known for its wood-fired pizza and pasta. They also had a shepherd’s purse doenjang (fermented soybean paste) pasta, almost like fusion Korean food, so I debated getting that—but I have been into tomato pasta lately, so tomato pasta it was.

There was a buy-one-get-one-free deal on draft beer or wine at the time, and we could not let that pass, so I had a glass of white wine.

I had missed this kind of scenery so much. A blind date in a spot like this in Myeongdong would be insanely romantic... It is flawless as a date course, and just as good for a wedding-invitation gathering.

While we waited, Aesun, who is dieting, said she would not drink wine, so she passed... They had steak too, but I had visited another sponsored café that day, so steak was not calling to me either. Pass.

Spaghetti with intensely rich tomato sauce

What was the name of the tomato spaghetti again... Ah, and the garden salad! They piled it with seasonal figs and grapefruit, so we ate it very happily.

Gwansik took one bite and was so surprised by how good it was that he kept eating... The tomato sauce is wonderfully rich.

With the wine, it was just incredible...

How was the arugula prosciutto pizza?

The arugula prosciutto pizza I had been waiting for. They say it is one of the signature pizzas here, and it was so, so good, with heaps of prosciutto and arugula over the wood-fired crust...

Aesun, an arugula lover, absolutely loved this pizza. It is loaded with cheese too, so anyone who loves cheese pizza would probably love it even more.

Eating the arugula prosciutto pizza and pasta together while looking at the blue sky—there could not be a more complete kind of happiness.

Take a big bite of pizza in front of Myeongdong Cathedral... then take a sip of wine... I could barely tell whether I was a human or an immortal.

We really could have a wedding-invitation gathering here, could we...? I should have one here later with my Suwon friends. My mom said, while we are at it, why not get married at the cathedral too...? I would be fine with that. The pasta was truly excellent—honestly, one of the best pastas I have had recently. I was shocked by how delicious it was.
