Pork cutlet restaurant in Gunpo: Onjeong Gyeongyangsikdang

In short

Onjeong Gyeongyangsikdang Sanbon Academy District Branch is a pork cutlet restaurant in Gunpo, Gyeonggi, opposite the back gate of Gwangjeong Elementary School. I had the Western-style pork cutlet and cheddar cheese pork cutlet for dinner; the rolls and soup made the initial price feel more reasonable. With many two-person tables and students dining alone, it also looked comfortable for a solo meal.

Is it a good place to eat pork cutlet alone in Sanbon Academy District?

I had gyeongyang donkatsu (Western-style pork cutlet) and cheddar cheese donkatsu for dinner at Onjeong Gyeongyangsikdang Sanbon Academy District Branch (온정경양식당 산본학원가점). We visited as a pair, but it also looked comfortable for eating alone.

What is on the menu, and how do you order?

There were four kinds of pork cutlet: Western-style, cheddar cheese, spicy, and curry. In addition to individual dishes, there were set menus served with noodle dishes.

Ordering kiosk at the restaurant entrance

After ordering and paying at the kiosk by the entrance, we sat down. We chose one Western-style pork cutlet and one cheddar cheese pork cutlet.

After ordering, I also looked around the self-service station. Rice, danmuji (pickled radish), kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), salad, and pepper were available. Small bottles of water in a mini refrigerator made it convenient to use.

What does the Western-style pork cutlet include for the price?

Our food came out quickly, and the two dishes filled the two-person table. The Western-style pork cutlet was ₩13,000. It came with two cutlets made with Dodram Korean pork, morning rolls, strawberry jam, corn salad, and soup. At first, I thought the price was a little high, but the full set made sense once I saw it.

The two cutlets were generously covered in demi-glace sauce. I never felt that there was too little sauce while eating.

I started with the soup. Its cream base had plenty of mushrooms and a savory flavor, making it a good accompaniment before the pork cutlet.

The pork cutlet was Western-style, with the meat pounded wide and thin. It was crisp outside and moist inside, reminding me of the Western-style pork cutlet I liked as a child.

The moist meat went well with the demi-glace sauce. I could enjoy the texture of the thin cutlet with plenty of sauce.

How did I eat the cheddar cheese pork cutlet and rolls?

The cheddar cheese pork cutlet I ordered was ₩13,500. Its sides were the same as the Western-style pork cutlet, and the cutlet was generously topped with yellow cheddar cheese sauce.

I also cut up the cheddar cheese pork cutlet to share with my companion. Each time I cut it with the knife, the cheese sauce coated the cutlet.

I spread strawberry jam on a morning roll, then added salad and cheddar cheese pork cutlet to make a small burger. Even without adding cheese separately, the sauce's salty flavor worked well. Despite the sauce, the cutlet's exterior stayed crisp, and I enjoyed it.

Are parking and takeout available?

According to the original post, on-site parking is not available, so you need to use a nearby public parking lot. Takeout is available and high chairs are provided, but pets are not allowed. We had dinner as a pair, and seeing the two-person tables and solo diners made this a useful option to keep in mind when looking for a place to eat alone in Sanbon Academy District.
