Yongin Korean restaurant for cockle muchim: Sotbap Hansang
In short
Sotbap Hansang is a Korean restaurant in Idong-eup, Cheoin-gu, Yongin, Gyeonggi, serving pot rice and Korean set meals. We ordered a two-person braised beef short rib set, a cockle muchim set, and mung bean pancake, and loved the spacious parking, green garden, and abundant spread. Verdict: a lovely spot for a proper, quiet family meal.

I visited Sotbap Hansang in Idong-eup, Cheoin-gu, Yongin with my parents :) The restaurant was spacious and so green, and my parents absolutely loved it. If you are looking for a good Korean set-meal restaurant around Yongin, do stop by!
Mushroom-shaped buildings and spacious parking

When you arrive at Sotbap Hansang, you will see these cute mushroom-shaped buildings. The surroundings are quiet rather than busy, so the atmosphere felt great for bringing parents out for a meal. The garden is prettily landscaped too, making it perfect for photos. I took photos of my parents, and it somehow felt like we had come on a little outing 🥰
There is a large stretch of parking space behind the restaurant, which was so convenient!
A roomy interior for family gatherings

The wood-toned interior has a clean, comfortable Korean-restaurant feel! It is spacious with lots of seats, so I think it would also work well for family gatherings or get-togethers with older relatives.

Sotbap Hansang’s statement of values is posted on the wall‼️ You can really feel the owner’s care. Truly, genuinely one of my favorite Yongin restaurants, no personal agenda here ㅜㅠ
Korean set meals with kids’ dishes and sides

Sotbap Hansang in Yongin has a menu built around Korean set meals. They also have pork cutlet and tteokgalbi (grilled minced-meat patties) for kids, plus sides such as beef yukjeon (pan-fried battered beef) and mung bean pancake. The three of us ordered the braised beef short rib set for two, a cockle muchim (seasoned cockle salad) set, and mung bean pancake, haha.
Home-style banchan and a self-service bar

Sotbap Hansang has a self-service bar too. It includes seaweed soup, sweet pumpkin porridge, and more.

The banchan (Korean side dishes) included japchae, chwinamul greens, stir-fried mushrooms, young-radish kimchi, acorn jelly, and more—it totally felt like a home-cooked meal, haha.
Especially the sweet pumpkin porridge! It was lovely before the meal. You can refill the side dishes, so you can easily grab more if you need them. The banchan was delicious from the start, so we kept going back for refills, haha.
Braised beef short ribs and cockle muchim together

Once our orders arrived, the whole table was full!! It was incredibly generous.

The braised beef short ribs were soaked through with seasoning, and each bone was huge, lol. They were tender and moist, making them a great dish to share with parents!

As soon as you lift one, the meat comes right off the bone. It was not tough at all, and I think people of every age would enjoy the sweet seasoning, haha.

We removed the bones first, then cut the meat into bite-sized pieces with scissors. Wrapped in gim (roasted seaweed) and dipped in sauce, it made a whole bowl of rice disappearㅜ My dad immediately ordered another bowl of rice, lol.

The cockle muchim was plump, and I liked that the seasoning was not overly strong!! While the braised short ribs were sweet and rich, the cockle muchim was lightly spicy and refreshing, so they were great to alternate between.

Both were perfect rice thieves, haha. I think we picked such a good combination.
Fried flounder also comes as a standard side, and it was wonderfully crisp outside and tender inside. This is the mung bean pancake my dad picked, and it was crisp outside and tender inside too!! It was surprisingly thick, and the crispy edges were delicious, haha.

With nurungji sungnyung (scorched-rice tea) afterward, it was such a satisfying, filling dinner.
They also sell marinated crab and salmon marinades for takeaway, so I recommend them to anyone who enjoys those!
An unmanned café for chatting after the meal

They also run an unmanned café space alongside the restaurant. When it feels too soon to say goodbye right after eating, it looked like a nice place to have a coffee and chat a little longer.
Above all, the freshly cooked pot rice made it feel like a truly proper meal :) I think it would be a lovely place to visit for a family meal with parents or on a day you want a quiet Korean meal. My family is planning to become regulars 🥰🤍
