Yun Ujae Shabu Kalguksu near Gogidong
Yun Ujae Shabu Kalguksu is in Dongcheon-dong, Suji, close to Gogidong, so it is a great place to stop for a meal after spending time around Gogidong.

The restaurant occupies its own building, so it also has a spacious parking lot. But perhaps because it is already a well-known Dongcheon-dong favorite, the lot was full when we visited... When it is full, you can use the nearby daycare parking lot, so we parked there and walked over.

A wait even after 1 PM
We visited after 1 PM, but there was still a wait..

You can reserve a place in line through Catchtable, and once you have made a reservation, KakaoTalk sends you updates, which is handy. There were about three parties ahead of us, so it was manageable!
Although it is a very large restaurant, it was completely packed! The interior was more spacious than expected and had lots of tables. How good must this place be...? I was even more excited as soon as we walked in.

There are also private room-style table seats. If you are visiting for a family gathering or with friends, reserving private seating in advance could be a good idea.

Maybe because it is a Dongcheon-dong favorite with constant waits, it even had a separate customer waiting lounge! The air conditioning was blasting, so we could wait comfortably in the cool air, and a TV screen on the front wall showed our place in line in real time.

There was also a menu in the waiting lounge, so you can decide what to eat ahead of time.

Our table and order
Once we were shown to our table, the sauces, paper cups, and ordering tablet were all neatly set to one side.

There was also a clear guide to the best order for eating everything, so even first-time visitors can easily enjoy it.

We ordered the red shabu-shabu at medium spice for two, plus the crispy seafood pajeon (seafood scallion pancake), which looked like a signature item.

Yun Ujae Shabu Kalguksu makes its noodles in-house, so it even has a separate noodle-making corner. I was looking forward to trying freshly made noodles, and once I tasted them later, I understood why they make them themselves.
I was surprised to find a modern induction cooktop at a shabu-shabu restaurant.. haha. You place the pot on the silicone mat and press the button built into the table to heat it up~~ It seemed safer, especially for children. The utensils also arrived sanitized in hot water, which I appreciated for hygiene too.
From red shabu-shabu to kalguksu
Not long after ordering, the shabu-shabu pot, meat, noodles, fried rice, and kimchi all arrived at once. It looked so appetizing, and I already felt full just looking at it!!
We chose the kalguksu noodles plus flat noodles. You can choose either kalguksu noodles only or kalguksu noodles plus flat noodles.
It was full of generous ingredients! All we had to do was add the meat to the shabu-shabu pot and let it cook~~ Soon the shabu-shabu was bubbling away. There was a note saying to add the meat before it boils; perhaps that is what makes the broth taste even better~~?

The finished shabu-shabu was loaded with ingredients such as minari (Korean water parsley), meat, mushrooms, and potatoes! Honestly, there was plenty without adding extra meat. Good value and generous portions,,

I dipped a piece of minari and meat deeply into the sauce. Wow... the distinctive fragrant aroma of minari worked so well with the mild, savory flavor of the meat. It had that addictive flavor that made me keep fishing ingredients out of the pot.

Once you have eaten all the meat and vegetables, it is kalguksu time~ Add the kalguksu noodles and cook them. The hourglass set on each table made it so convenient: exactly 5 minutes and they were done. As I adjusted the temperature and waited for the noodles to cook!!

The crispy seafood pajeon I really wanted to order
The crispy seafood pajeon arrived. Wow, you really have to order this! It was the top seafood pancake we have ever had.. The fried exterior was seriously crisp, and it was packed with seafood, so it was truly delicious.ㅠㅠ I immediately understood why it is a signature menu item!
While eating the seafood pajeon, the noodles had finished cooking, so I slurped them up. Perhaps because they are made in-house, the noodles definitely felt chewier and bouncier. The fresh geotjeori kimchi (lightly seasoned fresh kimchi) was a perfect match with the kalguksu too, and it was so good that we refilled it twice.. hahaha. Kalguksu really needs good kimchi~
A filling course through the final fried rice
Now it was truly time for the final fried rice... Finishing with shabu-shabu, kalguksu, and fried rice made the course feel absolutely perfect.

The amount of fried rice was honestly crazy... My husband and I normally eat well, but we were so full that we could not finish it and had to leave some behind. Overall, the food quality was good and the portions were generous, so the value was satisfying too. If you are looking for a great shabu-shabu spot in Dongcheon-dong, Suji, I highly recommend Yun Ujae Shabu Kalguksu!
