Yeouido tteokbokki restaurant with draft beer on tap: Hyeonseonine IFC
In short
Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch is a 20-year-old snack restaurant (bunsik) in Yeouido, Seoul, set midway along the underground passage between Yeouido Station and IFC Mall. On a weekday evening walk-in, instant tteokbokki (stir-fried rice cakes) for two cost 22,000 won at medium spice and was boiled at the table on an induction burner, and following the owner's advice to eat the mandu and glass noodles first, two people emptied the pot to the bottom. With a self-bar and a Cass draft beer machine, Hyeonseonine Premium is also an easy after-work drink stop in Yeouido.

Today I visited Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch, a great spot in Yeouido whenever #tteokbokki cravings hit.

How to find Hyeonseonine Premium in IFC Mall, and its opening hours
You have to be careful when trying to find Hyeonseonine at IFC Mall, because it's easy to take a wrong turn. It doesn't really feel like it's inside IFC Mall — it's more on the way to IFC!

If you turn on the "indoor map" feature on Naver Maps, you can see the underground passage route too. Did you manage to find Hyeonseonine from the map above? It's right in the middle of the passage connecting Yeouido Station and IFC! If you're coming from Yeouido Station, take the passage next to Exit 3; if you're coming from IFC, it's along the subway connecting passage.

True to a Yeouido favorite, it's open every day from morning until late evening. Only on Saturdays and Sundays does it open at 12pm!

The self-bar has all kinds of seasonings, danmuji (pickled radish), and even wet wipes. The self-bar was kept clean too, so it felt reassuring to eat there! Since it's popular and has such a good location, there's also plenty of seating outside the store. It can hold about 15 tables at once (based on two-person groups)!
What's on the menu at Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch

Hyeonseonine has a wide variety of set menus. There are many sets combining tteokbokki, fried snacks, sundae (Korean blood sausage), gimbap (seaweed rice roll) and more, so it's easy to choose!

For drinks, of course there's zero-sugar cola and cider, plus Coolpis, essential when eating something spicy. And unusually, they even have draft beer.

With a Cass draft beer machine on hand, you could easily have tteokbokki and a drink after work. A beer with tteokbokki would wash away all your fatigue. What a moment to envy for Yeouido office workers!

I used to pass by Hyeonseonine every day without a second thought… turns out it has 20 years of history! It really is delicious, friendly, and clean.
How spicy is medium-spice instant tteokbokki for two at 22,000 won?
You can choose your spice level with the instant tteokbokki (mild, medium, spicy). We went with medium! It was about as spicy as Shin Ramyun.

Instant tteokbokki can only be ordered for two people or more. All the ingredients and sauce come loaded in a pot, and you boil it right at the table as you eat! Each table has its own induction burner, so you can cook it exactly to your taste.

As a lifelong instant tteokbokki fanatic, I have to say — you should eat the mandu (dumplings) first 🥟🥟 Once it's boiled a bit, eat the mandu and glass noodles first, and give it a light stir so the noodles don't stick to the pot! The owner kindly explains all this.

On top of that, the egg, tteok (rice cakes), cabbage, eomuk (fish cake), and green onion were all fresh and generously portioned — totally satisfying! We ordered medium spice, and it was about as spicy as Shin Ramyun, so it'll feel like a familiar heat level for most Koreans. Someone who likes to boil instant tteokbokki for a long time? That's me... The rice cakes and vegetables held up well even after boiling a long time, so the flavor stayed great! I especially love the soft, mushy cabbage haha. The broth is addictive and really gets your appetite going, so we didn't even notice how full we were. Two of us cleaned the pot right down to the bottom!
Is Hyeonseonine Premium worth it when you want tteokbokki in Yeouido?
The owner was kind and the store was clean, so it felt reassuring to eat there! When we went as a walk-in on a weekday evening, about half the seats inside were filled, and apparently it's quite hard to get a seat during weekday lunch hours, so I'd recommend getting there early ✨✨
With a draft beer machine on site too, it also seems like a great spot for a drink after work. Recommended as a tteokbokki restaurant in Yeouido!
