The weather's been so nice! Blue skies, fluffy clouds drifting by, a cool breeze blowing through — perfect drive weather these days ^^ I finally carved out some time and went for a delicious lunch.
Why we went back to Jeongssi Hambak Baegot Branch in Jeongwang-dong
Jeongssi Hambak Baegot Branch's pasta is great, but honestly it's the cheese pork cutlet — fried crisp and loaded with cheese — that really gets me. Baegot has plenty of good restaurants, but a proper pasta place is hard to come by, and Jeongssi Hambak is reasonably priced too, so it's become a go-to spot my husband and I visit often.
Not Kim's, not Lee's — it's Jeong's Hambak. The place has that clean, restaurant-like vibe, nice for chatting over a meal. Way back when it had just opened, I walked in clueless with my sister and later declared we'd found a "Jeongwang-dong hidden gem." Ever since, it's the place I crave when I want pasta or pork cutlet.

Retro European interior with a mother-of-pearl table
Inside, Jeongssi Hambak Baegot Branch has this clean, faintly European-style interior that I just love — so pretty.
Full retro vibes. Mother-of-pearl inlay is trendy these days, isn't it — that elegant, classic Korean beauty? The table is so stylish I felt like I had to eat carefully around it, haha.
Every handmade hambak steak and sauce here is made in-house with real care.

What we ordered: bacon cream pasta, cheese pork cutlet and tteokbokki
The hambak steak is delicious too, but this time pork cutlet and pasta were what we craved. Bacon cream pasta, cheese pork cutlet, tteokbokki, and two sodas — three dishes, ordered!
This tteokbokki (spicy rice cake) is normally served free as a side, and it comes with one free refill.
All three dishes finally arrived. Obligatory overhead shot before digging in ^^ Click, click, haha.
This was our first time ordering the tteokbokki as its own dish — tastes the same as the free side, but this one's loaded generously with fried kimmari (fried seaweed roll), mandu yaki (pan-fried dumplings), egg, and fish cake. The cheese in the pork cutlet stretches beautifully. And the bacon cream pasta — need I say more, haha.
Old-school tteokbokki ordered as a full dish
The tteokbokki at Jeongssi Hambak Baegot Branch tastes just like the tteokbokki of old — sweet and spicy in exactly the way I like. I'd only ever had it as the free side before, but this time I ordered it properly, and it was worth it. The broth isn't over-seasoned, and it pairs perfectly with the fried bits and the fried egg.

Cheese pork cutlet: enough for two to share
The cheese pork cutlet comes in a seriously generous portion. A thick cutlet topped with a fried egg, fries, tater tots, rice, salad, and finished with a savory sauce. It's a bit much for one adult woman to finish alone, so ordering a pasta to share with my husband made the portions just right.

Bacon cream pasta: thick and creamy without feeling heavy
The bacon cream pasta has this thick, savory, smooth cream sauce that's just so good. At first glance it looks like it might be heavy, but it wasn't greasy at all — genuinely surprised me. Next time I come back, I'm ordering the bacon cream pasta again ^^
Every dish here is good, so honestly you can't go wrong with anything at Jeongssi Hambak. My husband and I had a great meal.
