The weather's been getting cooler and so nice lately that it felt like a waste to spend the weekend doing nothing, so I went to check out a Sadang Station izakaya. The mood and the food were both so good I have to tell you all about it!

Susan Sadang Main Branch: hours, location and parking

Susan Sadang Main Branch is a 7-minute walk from Sadang Station Exits 8 and 9. Hours are Mon–Thu 16:00–01:00 (last order 00:20), Fri–Sat 15:00–02:00, and Sunday 15:00–01:00 (last order 22:20).

Like most bars near Sadang Station, it sits down an alley, so there's no parking at the building itself — you'll need to find a nearby public lot. Since it's so close to the subway, I'd honestly recommend just walking there.

Being a well-known raw fish spot in Sadang, the place was buzzing with people right from opening time! We showed up right when they opened and the tables were already nearly full!! People really do know a good restaurant when they see one, haha. There's a separate basement space too, so if the first floor is full you can head downstairs. I got there at opening so I managed to snag a first-floor seat.

Susan Sadang Main Branch menu and how to order

Menu board at Susan Sadang Main Branch

I ordered one of the signature dishes, the gwangban-yuksa (₩48,000). I love both raw fish sashimi and beef tartare, so being able to have both together made me so happy. Next time I want to come with a bigger group and try more of the menu — I'm curious about the raw shrimp sashimi too, and the salmon looks like it'd be delicious.

Notice about seasonal raw shrimp sashimi and muk-sabal

They also apparently sell seasonal raw shrimp sashimi right now! And muk-sabal is offered if you write a receipt review, so ask a staff member about it.

Cute wet wipes from Susan Sadang Main Branch

Aren't these wet wipes just so cute?? To think they pay attention to details this small, haha. The owner clearly has great taste.

Welcome sake and a bottle of cheongha

Susan gives you a welcome sake like this. ٩(៸៸ᵔꇴᵔ៸៸) و I'm not much of a drinker, but I personally love sake, so this was genuinely delicious!

A bottle of ordered cheongha

After settling my stomach a bit with the welcome sake, I immediately ordered a cheongha (rice wine).

Prettily stacked plating of the gwangban-yuksa

Can you feel the care put into the plating? There's a saying that food that looks good tastes good too~ The flounder and beef tartare are stacked so prettily. My boyfriend and I both eat a lot, and we still weren't left wanting more.

A bite of flounder and baek-kimchi wrapped in seaweed

Flounder on seaweed, topped with baek-kimchi on top~ Ugh~~ Words aren't needed for a taste like this.

A plate refilled generously with baek-kimchi

The baek-kimchi was so good I asked for more, and the staff kindly brought this much!

Thick beef tartare dipped in sesame oil sauce

Picking up a thick piece of beef tartare and dipping it right into the sesame oil sauce!! The beef tartare wasn't tough at all — the more you chewed it, the more the nutty flavor came through. So good.🤍🤍

Beef tartare served with chojang and garlic

The combo of chojang (vinegared gochujang) and garlic was delicious too.(๑❛ڡ❛๑)☆
