Kimchi udon at Siseon, a late-night bar near Gyodae Station Seoul

Today my friends and I were looking for a second-round drinking spot near Gyodae Station, so I made a Naver reservation and visited Siseon Gyodae Branch, famous as a Gyodae Station izakaya! Siseon Gyodae is a Japanese sake izakaya with a strong retro vibe, and it's already well known around Seocho and Gyodae!

Between the retro izakaya atmosphere, the wide variety of side dishes, and reasonable prices, there were so many good reviews I went in with high expectations haha 🤍🤭🤍

How to walk there from Gyodae Station Exit 14

From Gyodae Station on Line 3, it's about a 2-minute walk to Siseon Gyodae Branch. Since we were going to be drinking, a spot close to the station was ideal, haha. This Gyodae Station izakaya sits right in front of Exit 14, so it was easy to access and easy to find, haha.

Inside Siseon Gyodae Branch: partitioned private seating

The dim lighting inside gives the space a cozy, calm feel that was great for catching up with friends, haha. Every table has a partition, so your eyeline is naturally separated from the next table over, which made it feel private too 🤍

It has that jazz-pub feel mixed with an upscale antique atmosphere, and being clean and comfortable made it even better 😍

Siseon Gyodae Branch menu and drinks list

From special dishes to sashimi, nabe (hot pot), set menus, grilled items, skewers, fried dishes, and even simple desserts — they really have everything. There was so much variety it took us forever just to pick, haha.

The drinks lineup was just as varied, from basic soju, beer and highballs to cheongju, fruit wine, distilled spirits, and sake, haha. It's not easy to find a bar that carries so many types of cheongju, fruit wine, spirits, and sake, but Siseon Gyodae had such a wide selection it was fun picking based on mood 🤍

How does the fried tofu kimchi udon (10,900 won) taste?

Wow, the visuals were amazing haha. It's packed with fried tofu and loaded with spicy kimchi. The broth was hearty and just spicy enough — so delicious 🤍 The portion was generous too, perfect as a drinking snack, haha.

It gets even better the longer it simmers, haha.

The dumplings and udon noodles soaked up that spicy broth so well, eating them together with the soup was really delicious, haha.

The fried tofu kimchi udon gets even better once it starts boiling 💛 Even the broth was so good I kept going back for more!

Saero Omija soju at this Gyodae Station bar

Not many bars these days carry Saero Omija, but Siseon Gyodae had it right there, haha. Since we all love Saero Omija, we ordered it right away 🤍

Saero Omija was sweet and delicious 💛 We lost count of how many toasts the three of us made. With such tasty side dishes alongside, the drinks really went down easy, haha.

In the end… we went a little overboard, haha, hahaha. I guess that just shows how good the fried tofu kimchi udon + Saero Omija combo was, haha.

Why Siseon Gyodae Branch works for a night out in Seocho

Today at this Gyodae Station izakaya, my friends and I enjoyed the spicy, delicious fried tofu kimchi udon along with Saero Omija. It's close to Gyodae Station so it's easy to get to, and with a variety of seating options it was great for a second-round drinking spot with friends!
