Sinnonhyeon-dong odeng bar snacks: yubu pocket, kushikatsu skewers at Odeng Osaek
In short
Odeng Osaek Gangnam Station Branch is a Japanese-style odeng (fish cake) bar near Sinnonhyeon Station in Seocho, Seoul. On this repeat visit, the writer paired yubu (fried tofu pocket) and konjac odeng with shiitake mushroom, smelt, and eggplant kushikatsu skewers and a draft beer. The combination of warm odeng broth and cold draft beer makes this a solid, low-pressure spot for drinks with a friend.

I'd been to Odeng Osaek, this bar near Sinnonhyeon Station, before and loved it, so I went back again. Usually even places I liked don't get a revisit from me — but this one was satisfying all over again, haha.

I came for a light drink today, so we started with draft beer and a soft drink. And since we're at Odeng Osaek, odeng was a must! This time we ordered yubu pocket, konjac, and kushikatsu together :)
What's the odeng bar atmosphere like near Sinnonhyeon Station?
Walking into Odeng Osaek, you immediately get that Japanese-style odeng bar feel. The lighting is soft, and the vibe is great for chatting over drinks — a good spot to bring a friend.

Like last time, there's a wide variety of odeng, so it's fun deciding what to get. This time I went straight for the yubu pocket and konjac that caught my eye first.

After ordering, they brought out tuna crackers as a complimentary snack! Honestly, is there a better beer snack than this?
How the yubu pocket and konjac odeng taste

The odeng finally arrived — piping hot just from the look of it, haha. The yubu pocket in particular looked amazing, soaking up all that broth. One bite in, the soft texture of the fried tofu combined with the warm broth flavor made it the perfect drinking snack.

The konjac also went well with the odeng broth and had a chewy texture, good for picking at between bites. I think Odeng Osaek really nails that experience of eating odeng in hot broth while having a drink.
Odeng really does taste better eaten with the broth. The warm broth had soaked into the odeng just enough that every bite was moist and delicious.

The yubu pocket especially was so full of broth inside that I had to eat it carefully, haha. The konjac had a totally different texture from the odeng, so I was glad we ordered both. Picking a few things one at a time and sipping draft beer made for a really relaxed way to spend the evening.

Among the bars near Sinnonhyeon Station, this kind of odeng bar atmosphere is perfect for days when you want snacks and a drink without anything too heavy. I had a great time here last visit too, and once again — totally satisfied!
We also ordered kushikatsu

This time we also ordered kushikatsu (deep-fried skewers), choosing shiitake mushroom, fried smelt, and fried eggplant. Adding a fried item instead of sticking only to odeng made the snack lineup feel much more varied. The outside was crispy and each filling had a different texture, so it was fun picking through them one by one. The shiitake mushroom kept its distinct mushroom aroma, and the eggplant had a nice soft texture.

The fried smelt was crispy too, which paired perfectly with the draft beer, haha.
A draft beer alongside

And of course, snacks like these need a draft beer!!! Pouring a cold one is exactly what makes it feel like you're actually at a bar, haha. Warm odeng, cold beer — the combination works surprisingly well.

Especially if you're looking for a place near Sinnonhyeon Station for a casual drink with a friend, Odeng Osaek seems like a solid choice. I was happy with it last visit, and this time was just as good. With so many varied menu items — from odeng to kushikatsu — that work well as drinking snacks, I'll probably come back again :)
If you're looking for a bar near Sinnonhyeon Station, remember Odeng Osaek. Warm odeng with cold draft beer, plus a good range of light snacks, makes it a great spot for drinks with a friend!!

I'd already been once before, and I was just as satisfied this time — I'd definitely go back again!! Next time I want to try other odeng items and side dishes, haha. If you're looking for a bar near Sinnonhyeon Station, I recommend Odeng Osaek :)
