In short
Moyeon Mapo is a hanwoo (Korean beef) restaurant with private rooms only, a 3-minute walk from Exit 1 of Mapo Station in Seoul. A couple ordered charcoal-grilled seasoned hanwoo for two with Pyongyang naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles), mixed butter and soy-braised abalone into the pot rice, and staff grilled every piece of meat for them. Where is Moyeon Mapo and what are its hours?
Moyeon Mapo is a 3-minute walk from Exit 1 of Mapo Station. It's open Tue-Sat 11:30-21:50, and I'd recommend it for a lunch gathering — every seat is in a private room, so you can eat privately.
It's also super close to Yeouido — just cross Mapo Bridge once and you're there! I actually see a lot of Yeouido office workers coming here for lunch too!!
Booking and walk-in tips for Moyeon Mapo
Oh, one thing — the 11:30 opening slot is 100% reservation-only, so if you're a walk-in, you can eat after 12:30. You can register for the waitlist right when they open ‼️

Moyeon is made up entirely of private rooms. Isn't that perfect for a lunch or dinner gathering? If you're planning a get-together near Mapo Station on a weekday lunch, I highly recommend Moyeon Mapo 💗

The rooms are super clean too ✨ As a couple, we're the type who says "it has to be hanwoo" whenever something good happens, so we've come here before to treat ourselves at this Mapo Station hanwoo restaurant, on our own dime haha.

Even the water comes out as tea — nutty and genuinely delicious. In front is the seasoned kelp that comes when you order naengmyeon, hehe.
What's on the menu at Moyeon Mapo?

This is the menu for a Mapo lunch recommendation. The lunch special comes with Pyongyang naengmyeon paired with either seasoned charcoal-grilled hanwoo or lunch sirloin. The set is so good it's perfect for treating your parents or hosting someone.
These are the items you can also order for dinner. There's a hanwoo lineup — sirloin, tenderloin, seasoned sirloin, and even skirt steak and fresh short ribs! Just looking at it makes you hungry, ugh.

There's a wide drink list too, so no need to worry about pairings, hehe. We ordered the charcoal-grilled seasoned hanwoo for two and Pyongyang naengmyeon.
Charcoal-grilled seasoned hanwoo with abalone-butter pot rice

The pot rice arrived 💛 The moment I saw it, I thought this lunch was really something — maybe the best in Mapo — but as more and more banchan (side dishes) kept piling up on the table, I realized this is actually great value! My eyes went wide.

Along with the basic banchan comes wrap vegetables, perilla leaf pesto, ssamjang (dipping paste), soy sauce, garlic scapes, and all sorts of other seasonings.

The best seasoned hanwoo ❤️ The color alone was incredible, ugh. I want to eat it again, drooling just thinking about it.
The staff grill 100% of the meat for you. Quick and skillful.

Since it's hanwoo, it cooks fast anyway! But watching the staff grill it for us made the wait feel reassuring, hehe.
Pyongyang naengmyeon at Moyeon Mapo

The naengmyeon we'd been waiting and waiting for finally arrived. So plain and mild yet so delicious! I only recently got into naengmyeon, and this one is truly the real deal. #MapoPyongyangNaengmyeon If you only knew Eulmildae, go check out Moyeon 💗

We scooped out some pot rice, mixed in butter and soy-braised abalone, and it was truly heavenly .. 💞

The abalone in the soy-braised abalone was plump and chewy and so delicious! Plus it came with seasoned namul (vegetable side dishes), so eating it every which way felt like a totally different dish — we felt so pampered ^__^

Meanwhile the grilled hanwoo was finished. It came with chives too, and eating them together was the perfect pairing ❤️

I'll never forget this combo.. Mapo hanwoo = Moyeon, no question.

Haha my partner wrapped his ssam so neatly too. If you're looking for hanwoo around Gongdeok or Yeouido, I don't think anywhere beats Moyeon.. It's racked up Blue Ribbon awards too, haha. The meat had this smoky charcoal aroma that was just so good.. I want to eat it again, ugh.

I tried the combo the staff recommended — gim (seaweed) + pot rice + soy-braised abalone — all together. This was seriously delicious... If you're looking for a Mapo hanwoo restaurant, go check out Moyeon 💛
