Deojinji Sutbul Galbi, Resom Baegun Branch: a charcoal galbi restaurant near Resom Forest
We stayed at Resom for a trip to Jecheon, and honestly, figuring out dinner is one of the low-key most important parts of any trip.
After a full day of wandering around, you get hungry by evening and want something good to eat before heading back to the room.
We'd been out playing all day, so we decided we wanted a proper dinner before going back, and that's how we found Deojinji Sutbul Galbi, Resom Baegun Branch.
We were looking for somewhere to eat near Resom, and in the end we came away pretty satisfied with the dinner.
If you're staying at Resom like we were and looking for dinner options, this might be worth keeping in mind.
What we ordered: the charcoal tteokgalbi set
The menu we ordered that day was the charcoal tteokgalbi (grilled minced-meat patty) set.
At first I was only thinking about the tteokgalbi itself, but since it's cooked over charcoal, I got even more excited.
What I loved most was that the staff grilled the tteokgalbi for us!
At Korean BBQ places the food is great, but if you're constantly flipping and grilling, at some point you end up focused more on cooking than eating. 😂
But here, since they grill it for us, we could just relax and chat while we waited, then eat once it was ready.
As the tteokgalbi cooked over the charcoal, the smell was genuinely amazing.
The smoky grilled-meat smell drifting around the table made us even hungrier.
Watching the tteokgalbi turn golden brown made us want to dig in right away.
Since the staff grilled it themselves, they kept it from burning and served it perfectly cooked, ready to eat.
Tteokgalbi with real charcoal aroma
Once the tteokgalbi was fully cooked and we tried it, the subtle charcoal aroma really stood out.
Tteokgalbi is delicious on its own, but grilled over charcoal it picks up that distinctive smoky flavor, and the depth was clearly better.
One bite with rice and it worked really well together.
Slightly sweet, with the flavor of the meat itself still coming through, plus the charcoal aroma — it was exactly the kind of side dish you want with rice.
Personally, if tteokgalbi is too sweet or too dry I lose interest after a couple of bites, but eating it warm that day it was soft and delicious the whole way through.
Best of all, since the staff did the grilling, we didn't have to worry about the meat while we ate, which made things easy.
Chatting about the trip and eating slowly made the whole meal feel more relaxed.
Damyang-style charcoal pork galbi on the same table
It felt like a shame to stop at just the tteokgalbi, so we also enjoyed the Damyang-style charcoal pork galbi.
It had its own charm, completely different from the tteokgalbi.
The pork galbi also had that subtle charcoal aroma running through it, giving it real barbecue flavor.
If the tteokgalbi was soft and clean-tasting, the pork galbi had that sweet-and-savory flavor typical of marinated meat, which went great with rice.
Eating the two together, they didn't feel repetitive, and switching back and forth between them was fun.
At first, being pretty hungry, we wondered if we could finish it all, but it was so good we just kept eating. 😂
There's something about traveling that makes us eat more than usual, somehow.
The side dishes at Deojinji
One thing I personally liked was the side dishes.
At a Korean BBQ place, the meat matters, but the side dishes served alongside it need to be clean and good for overall satisfaction.
The side dishes here were served neatly and paired well with the meat.
Eating just meat can get a little heavy, but with a side dish here and there it never got tiresome and we kept eating.
With rice, side dishes, and charcoal-grilled meat together, it really felt like a proper Korean BBQ meal.
We mixed things up — a bite of meat with a side dish on top, or wrapped in lettuce as ssam (wrapped bite), trying different combinations.
The side dishes were clean overall, so we ate comfortably and deliciously the whole meal.
Why the private room made the family dinner easier
Having a private room was another plus.
When you're traveling with family or a group, there are times you'd rather eat comfortably in a private room than in an open dining hall.
Especially if you're coming with kids or bringing your parents along, having a room makes things much easier.
We liked being able to chat comfortably without worrying about other tables while eating.
Sitting down together after a while and chatting over dinner while traveling made the meal itself feel unhurried.
Location near Resom Forest and the free pickup service
For anyone traveling to the Resom area, the pickup service is a nice bonus.
If you want a drink while traveling, or driving is a bit awkward, getting to the restaurant can be a hassle.
Especially when your accommodation is near Resom, going out to eat and coming back can be a concern.
But being able to use a pickup service is really convenient.
We could eat without worrying much about how to get around while traveling.
If you're planning a visit, it's a good idea to call ahead and check whether pickup is available and how to use it.
A good dinner stop during a Resom Forest stay
We visited in the evening after playing and wandering around all day, and charcoal-grilled meat really does taste best when you're hungry.
The smell of meat grilling over charcoal was great from the start, and since the staff grilled it for us, we could eat comfortably.
The charcoal tteokgalbi especially, grilled start to finish by staff, was great for people like us who want to eat without any hassle.
Adding the Damyang-style charcoal pork galbi on top meant anyone who loves meat could eat and feel satisfied.
The side dishes were served neatly, and with a private room too, it seemed like a good option for families or larger groups.

Planning a Jecheon Resom trip? What to know before you go
When you travel to Jecheon and spend the whole day at Resom, figuring out where to eat dinner becomes a real question.
This time we had the charcoal tteokgalbi set and Damyang-style charcoal pork galbi at Deojinji Sutbul Galbi, Resom Baegun Branch, and it was a solid, filling dinner before heading back to our room.
Having the staff grill it for us was more convenient than I expected.
The most annoying part of Korean BBQ is constantly flipping and grilling to eat it well, but here they handled it all, so we could eat comfortably while chatting.
On a trip, these small conveniences somehow end up feeling like a big deal.
The side dishes were clean and well-served, and with a private room, it seemed like a good option for a family visit too.
If you want charcoal-grilled meat near Resom, are looking for somewhere comfortable to eat with family, or are trying to figure out dinner during a Jecheon trip, this is worth considering.
We ate well, filled up, and headed back to the room to wrap up the day — on a trip, a good dinner really does complete the whole day. 😊
