Private cinema room in Haeundae, Busan with Nintendo Mario Kart

Today I went to a place called Ott Cinema. I was looking for something to do while I was in Haeundae, and since it was a really hot day, I wanted somewhere cool and comfortable to hang out.

How to get there and how to book

There's a big phoenix on the building's exterior so it wasn't hard to find — you just head into the building. You do need to book in advance through Naver before you go!

The room we used was in 801. As soon as we walked in I went to wash my hands, and I was happy to see the bathroom was kept very clean.

The room had a recliner sofa, a large sofa, and bean bags — it was bigger and more comfortable than I expected.

There was also a separate desk and chair set up in the back, so it seemed like a good spot to bring a laptop and work, or just relax while watching a movie. With several different places to sit, it looked like a great space for a group of friends or family to use together.

Slippers and blankets were also provided in the room, which made it easy to get comfortable.

Outside food and rental items

Outside food isn't allowed, but corkage is fine, and snacks and drinks are all ₩3,000 each, apparently.

You can also rent a laptop or a tripod, so that's worth using if you need one.

Nintendo rental: from Mario Kart to Mario Party

And there are also game consoles here — we rented a Nintendo!

The games included a few sports titles, Mario Kart, and Mario Party. Honestly, isn't it game over the moment Mario shows up haha. Nothing beats Mario for group fun.

We started with Mario Kart. Closing the curtains made the screen much easier to see, which helped us focus on the game. It had been a while since I'd played, and it was more fun than I expected. One of our friends was playing for the first time, but everyone was having a blast lol. Win a round and suddenly everyone wants to play again; lose and someone suddenly says they're done — it was funny how little that's changed since we were kids haha.

After that we tried the sports games, and they used your whole body way more than I expected — it genuinely felt like exercise. We tried bowling and golf, and moving around in the spacious room made it fun rather than cramped.

Mixing in these active games instead of just sitting and playing made the time fly by even faster. We finished up with Mario Party. It's a format where you compete across a bunch of mini-games for the overall ranking, which made it great for a group.

And of course, I won haha. It was satisfying to play Nintendo games to my heart's content after a long time, and to hang out somewhere cool indoors on such a hot day.

Also a great spot to relax and watch a movie

We mostly used it for gaming, but true to the name OTT, it also seemed like a great place to spend the whole day relaxing while watching movies or shows. Having several types of sofas so everyone can sit wherever they're comfortable was a plus, and with blankets provided, you could really sprawl out and unwind. Especially on very hot days or rainy days, spending time in a space like this instead of going outdoors seems like a solid alternative. It would also work well for a special indoor date with friends, or for gatherings like birthdays where several people get together. It was a great space to spend time comfortably on days when it's hard to be out and about haha.

It was fun getting to play Nintendo games to my heart's content after such a long time. Playing Mario Kart, sports games, and Mario Party with a group especially made the time fly by haha.
