I went to Forerest, a big café in Uijeongbu that's also known as a cake hotspot, and had chocolate Basque cheesecake, plain Basque cheesecake, organic Earl Grey milk tea and orange juice.

What are Forerest's exterior and parking like?

Exterior of Forerest in Uijeongbu, a villa-like café building

Forerest is a large café on Nogyang-ro in Uijeongbu. The building feels like a pretty villa, and parking is said to fit about 50 cars. It's famous as a cake spot in Uijeongbu, and it's so big that I was excited before even going in. The villa-like building was really photogenic, and with the lights on it, it felt like we'd gone on a little trip.

I also liked how roomy the parking is. With space for around 50 cars, it seems perfect for group gatherings too.

Even the entrance at Forerest is nicely decorated. There's a mirror on one side, so it's a perfect photo zone!!!

Can groups sit inside Forerest?

Inside, there are about 4 room-like areas, and in the middle sits a big table that's great for groups. The space is split into several zones, and even the rooms have quite a few tables, so as a large café it can clearly hold a lot of people.

We went after dinner, a little before 9pm. The café stays open late, so there were quite a few customers. The tables in each area are spaced out comfortably, so it was nice for a quiet conversation too.

Soft music plays inside, and the interior is in the wood tones I love, so it felt warm and cozy. There's a water jug on one side, so you can help yourself to water.

What are Forerest's menu and prices?

What we ordered at Forerest was organic Earl Grey milk tea ₩6,800, orange juice ₩7,800, Basque cheesecake ₩7,500 and chocolate Basque cheesecake ₩8,000. They told us the tea is organic!! Being organic made it feel even safer to drink.

There's also a decaf menu for customers who are sensitive to caffeine. They said even the decaf isn't ordinary: they've prepared good beans with a rich coffee flavor.

How were the outdoor tent seats at Forerest on a rainy day?

Forerest has quite a lot of outdoor tables and a tent zone, so on a rainy night we could sit in a tent and enjoy it while listening to the rain. The outdoor area of this Uijeongbu cake hotspot is really pretty too. I thought it would be especially atmospheric on a rainy day, so we went for the tent seats.

Hearing the rain patter on the tent made it feel like we were traveling, which made it even better. The inside is nice, but the outdoor space is great too, so it's perfect for a date. It isn't far from Seoul either, so it would be nice to come as part of a drive.

Organic Earl Grey milk tea and fresh orange juice

Spread of drinks and cake ordered at Forerest

The organic Earl Grey milk tea at Forerest wasn't harsh or dry, just moderately sweet and nutty, and the orange juice was freshly squeezed from real oranges and clean-tasting. Drinks and cake also came out faster than I expected.

The organic Earl Grey milk tea had no bitterness at all. It was moderately sweet and even nutty, so as a milk tea lover I thought it was delicious. I had my partner try it too and they said it was good. The black tea flavor and the sweetness were both just right!!

The orange juice was made by blending real oranges, so it didn't taste artificial. The natural freshness and sweetness of oranges came through, and it was a clean, easy drink.

What is the texture of Forerest's Basque cheesecake?

A slice of Forerest's plain Basque cheesecake

Forerest's Basque cheesecake is dense yet soft, melting in your mouth with a rich cheese flavor. As befits a cake hotspot in Uijeongbu, it looks pretty from the start!! One bite and I understood why people call it that.

Forerest reportedly makes its Basque cheesecake in-house, aging it in the fridge for 16 hours!!! The chocolate cake and black sesame cake are said to be gluten-free, so you can enjoy them without worry!

Chocolate Basque cheesecake: a chocolate lover's verdict

Cross-section of the fudgy chocolate Basque cheesecake

Forerest's chocolate Basque cheesecake (₩8,000) blends rich, fudgy chocolate with the nutty, sweet taste of Basque cheesecake, and it was the item I was happiest with that day. I'm both a chocolate fanatic and a Basque cheesecake fanatic, so combining the two?? Seriously... it's amazing!!!! So good (crying)

The fudginess of the chocolate and the nutty sweetness of the Basque cheesecake blended harmoniously and made this chocolate lover's heart flutter. I kept telling my partner while eating, "this is really good."

I debated whether to get some to go and didn't, and now I regret it (crying)! I should have taken it home and frozen it! Haha. Next time I want to take some home and freeze it slightly so I can eat it like ice cream.

Forerest overall review

  • The Basque cheesecake is made in-house, which made it even more satisfying.
  • Both the chocolate Basque cheesecake and the plain Basque cheesecake were soft and rich in flavor.
  • The organic Earl Grey milk tea and fresh orange juice went well alongside.
  • Indoor and outdoor spaces are both large, so it's recommended for dates, get-togethers and drives.
  • If you're looking for a big café with a nice atmosphere and great cake in Uijeongbu, give it a visit.

I was happy with everything, from the in-house Basque cheesecake to the spacious, atmospheric setting. If you're looking for a big café with a nice atmosphere or a cake spot in Uijeongbu, I recommend visiting Forerest once.
