Amsa eel restaurant for family dinners: Jangsuchon Pungcheon Eel

My husband and I were trying to decide on dinner and figured we needed a little pick-me-up, so we settled on eel! The reviews were good, it's close to Amsa, and there's parking right in front — no reason not to go, so off we went.

Jangsuchon Pungcheon Eel is open daily from 11:00 to 22:00, with last order at 21:00. You can park right in front of the restaurant.

The great thing about this eel wholesale-style restaurant is that the interior is spacious and there's parking available, so it seems perfect for family gatherings or work dinners!!

Can you feel how spacious it is just from the photo! Think of it as about three times the size shown. Lots of tables, with wide gaps between them, so we ate really comfortably!!

Is 1kg of salt-grilled eel at 59,000 won enough for two?

There were two of us, so we ordered the 1kg salt-grilled eel for ₩59,000. After trimming, it comes out to about 550–600g. It was plenty for two people. We also added perilla dumplings and a bowl of rice! The table charge is ₩3,000 per person.

I really care about the charcoal (some places actually use gas!), and this was so, so good haha. At the end I joined the review event and got grilled shrimp, and grilled over good charcoal it was crazy delicious...

Side dishes, the self-serve bar and the free eel soup

The basic side dishes were varied — pickled vegetables to eat with the eel, white kimchi, green onion kimchi, salad, garlic, chives — and there were wrapping greens too, which was great! There's a self-serve bar if you want more, which was awesome ....❤️👍🏻

My favorite companion for eel is ginger with the house sauce 🫶🏻🫶🏻

What I really loved was that eel soup came complimentary, so I finished a whole bowl of rice with it. The broth is seriously rich ❤️❤️

The self-serve bar had all the same side dishes that came out at first, so you can help yourself anytime you run low !!!

The owner grills and cuts every piece of eel at your table

The 1kg of eel we ordered arrived. Big and fresh-looking .....!!!!!!! If you live in Amsa or Gangdong-gu, I highly recommend Jangsuchon Pungcheon Eel ...!!!

Very, very plenty for two! What was great here is that the owner was so kind 🫶🏻 and grilled everything for us!! Eel is especially tricky to grill, but the owner grilled it and even cut it into bite-sized pieces — a place I'll definitely come back to.

The owner brought eel extract to the table, one per person, on the house! Looked like they sell it too on the way out — if you try it and like it, worth picking some up!! haha

Wrapped it in lettuce, then with ginger on top, then wrapped in pickled perilla leaves! It was such a happy day finding a great eel restaurant after so long ㅠㅠ

My husband and I got a good pick-me-up on a weekday evening haha. Once the owner grills everything for you, all that's left is the comfortable part — just eating. There are a lot of eel restaurants, and we've tried a few around Gangdong-gu, but I really recommend this one!

Grilled shrimp from the Naver review event

If you join the Naver review event, they give you grilled shrimp, and wow, the shrimp .... it's good enough to actually order..... This is an eel specialty restaurant but the shrimp is so delicious. Fresh and big...!!!! My husband and I were both speechless haha..... They gave us mushrooms and rice cakes on the house too, so we grilled those together~ yum yum ❤️

Grilled golden brown and eaten as is, it's the perfect drinking snack..... I want it again! Have some eel, be sure to join the review event, and try the grilled shrimp too!!
