Paju restaurant with 20-team waitlist and 5-minute knife noodles
In short
Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu is a handmade mandu (dumpling) hot pot and Pyeongyang-style mandu restaurant on Jimok-ro in the Paju publishing complex. Walk-ins only, we put our name on Catch Table and waited through 20 teams for Pyeongyang mandu hot pot, mandu jjabagi, and mung bean pancake, timing the handmade knife noodles with a 5-minute hourglass for that perfect chewy bite. With a free dessert zone and baby dishware, it's a great family restaurant to bring both grandparents and kids.

Let me introduce a great spot in Paju if you want to properly enjoy handmade mandu (dumpling) hot pot. Today I went back to Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu, a place I keep returning to. It's always delicious and my family loves it every time. It's clean and thoughtful enough that it's also a great Paju Unjeong restaurant to take your parents or grandparents to.

How long is the wait? Walk-in registration only
Here, only walk-in waitlisting is possible.

So on weekends I'd recommend putting your name on Catch Table the moment you arrive.
We waited through about 20 teams, but it moved faster than I expected. There aren't a huge number of tables, but the turnover is really quick, so the wait is manageable.

That just shows how steady the customer traffic is here — a Paju Unjeong restaurant you can trust.

Spacious parking and takeout available
The parking lot is fairly spacious, so we parked comfortably. Just don't forget to register your parking on the way out.

If you'd rather skip the wait, plenty of people order takeout too.

For takeout, they give you the mandu hot pot and the broth together, so you can enjoy the same taste at home.

Whether you eat in or take it home, it's a Paju Unjeong restaurant you can enjoy either way.

A charming waiting area and free dessert zone
The waiting area is well set up too. The waiting room is outside, and on a nice day it's decorated like a garden, giving it a charming atmosphere.

Sitting there while you wait, the time really flies.

For anyone getting hungry, there's also a dessert zone inside.

They keep offering misugaru (roasted grain drink) and snacks as a free service, so it's great for filling up a bit while you wait.

A Paju Unjeong restaurant that takes care of even these little details.

Choose your broth, then 5-minute knife noodles: Pyeongyang mandu hot pot
My family always orders the mandu hot pot. You can choose your broth — either clear or spicy.
You boil the vegetables first, then add the mandu in briefly. At the end you add the knife noodles, and here's the key detail: they give you a 5-minute hourglass. Since it's handmade knife noodles, the texture is chewy, and timing it exactly 5 minutes makes it perfectly chewy.

This little detail makes it an even more special Paju Unjeong restaurant.
Can't wait for it to boil? Try the mandu jjabagi
I also tried the mandu jjabagi. It's the perfect dish for when you can't wait for the hot pot to finish boiling.

It comes already boiled, so you can eat it right away. It's a spicy broth like yukgaejang (spicy beef soup) with four mandu inside. One order comes with four mandu as standard.

That spicy, hearty flavor gives it a different charm from the hot pot — another reason this is a great Paju Unjeong restaurant.
The crispy mung bean pancake is a must-try
If you go late, they often sell out of the pancake, but this time it was still available, so we ordered it. Since the mandu filling has mung bean added to it, it seems that's what goes into making the pancake too. Maybe that's why it's so crispy. At ₩10,000, it's affordable to add as a side dish.

If you love mung bean pancake, this is an absolute must-order. I was satisfied enough that I'll be ordering it again next time — a Paju Unjeong restaurant that delivers.
Self-serve bar to baby dishware, ultimate family-friendly spot
The family-friendly touches here are really great. There's a self-serve bar with various side dishes and broth. There's also a microwave, so you can warm up baby food. They even have kids' dishware, so there's nothing to worry about bringing a young child.

The kids' mandu soup is also just ₩6,000, so the kids' menu is well taken care of too.

Thanks to this kind of thoughtful care, it's the perfect Paju Unjeong restaurant for family dining out.

Handmade mandu made in-house, a meal you can trust
You can actually watch the mandu being made. It's all done in the open, so seeing it with your own eyes proves it's truly handmade, which made me trust it even more. The restaurant overall was clean and tidy, so we ate happily.

It's a flavor worth enduring the wait for, which is why I keep coming back.

If you're looking for a place the whole family — from grandparents to kids — can enjoy, I highly recommend this Paju Unjeong restaurant, Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu.
