Yeongdeungpo BBQ chicken gastropub for after-work drinks: Ho Samchon
In short
Ho Samchon Yeongdeungpo Main Branch is a Korean gastropub on the second floor of the food alley in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, a 7-minute walk from Yeongdeungpo Station Exit 5. After work on a Friday we ordered beef brisket cream jjamppong (creamy spicy noodle soup) with bean sprouts settled in the broth, BBQ chicken served with fried wheat rice cakes, and jjagyechi (jjapaguri noodles with cheese and egg). With a red phone booth photo zone, private rooms and group tables, Ho Samchon works for anything from a date to a company dinner.

Where is Ho Samchon Yeongdeungpo Main Branch, and what are its hours?
Ho Samchon Yeongdeungpo Main Branch is a Korean-style bar and grill on the 2nd floor of a building in the food alley at 4 Yeongdeungpo-ro 46-gil, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. It's open daily from 17:00 to 02:00, with last order at 01:00.

Visited after work on a Friday! Ho Samchon Yeongdeungpo Main Branch is a 7-minute walk from Exit 5 of Yeongdeungpo Station in the food alley, so it's perfect for a first or second round of drinks!

The red phone booth photo zone at the top of the second-floor stairs
Ho Samchon is on the 2nd floor, so you climb these stairs to get there! Once you're up, a red phone booth suddenly appears!!

And the whole area around it is a photo zone! It seemed really nice to take photos with friends or a date before going in, while you're still looking put together! The lighting and interior are stylishly done up, giving off exactly that bright, kitschy vibe!

Private rooms and group tables: does Ho Samchon work for a company dinner?
Inside Ho Samchon Yeongdeungpo Main Branch there's a private room for confidential chats, plus several tables suited for groups. The interior is clean and pretty inside too! It's also a great spot for a company dinner.
They were also running a Naver receipt review event — leave a review and you get marble ice cream!! Can't resist marble ice cream haha

What we ordered: cream jjamppong, BBQ chicken and jjagyechi
Ho Samchon Yeongdeungpo Main Branch's menu has plenty of options that work great as a first-round meal! With soups like the cream jjamppong alongside chicken, pasta and more, it's nice being able to try a bunch of different things! We really agonized over what to order before finally settling on cream jjamppong, BBQ chicken, and jjagyechi!

The basic side snack is chicken crackers, and these are seriously addictive! You just keep eating them, no shame — total human kibble haha
Beef brisket cream jjamppong
Cream jjamppong (creamy seafood noodle soup) came out first! As you can see, it's piled high with bean sprouts, sitting on top of a rich, creamy broth — once the sprouts on top settle down, it's ready to eat!

Personally, I found it even tastier once the broth reduced a bit and the flavor got richer!!

Inside there was a variety of things — blue crab, udon noodles, shrimp, beef brisket, and more!! So the seafood flavor really came through and made the broth even better! The udon noodles soaking up all that creamy broth are absolutely the best part...!
Jjagyechi (jjapaguri with cheese and egg)
Next up, jjagyechi (jjapaguri topped with cheese and egg)! The cheese and egg come out separately on the side, so you can first take a bite of the plain jjapaguri!! Whoever came up with this really knew what they were doing,,

Then once you mix it all together with the egg and cheese, the rich cheddar cheese flavor blends with the egg's mildness for an even tastier bite haha
BBQ chicken with fried wheat rice cakes
Last up was the BBQ chicken! It comes with long fried flour rice cakes, coated in the chicken sauce like oil tteokbokki — really tasty!!

And the chicken is delicious plain, but topping each piece with a cheongyang chili adds a spicy kick that cuts right through the richness — you've got to try it this way!!

Is Ho Samchon a good spot for a date in Yeongdeungpo?
Ho Samchon Yeongdeungpo Main Branch has a vibe that's not too dark, decorated with bright, kitschy lighting, so it seemed like a great spot for a Yeongdeungpo date or blind date! It's not too loud a bar either, making it perfect for a one-on-one conversation!

They also run events for birthdays or anniversaries, so it seems like a great place to visit with friends on a special day! Full venue rental is also available, making it perfect for a group company dinner too! Recommended for anyone looking for a group hangout spot in Yeongdeungpo!
