Sokcho means snow crab 🦀 Every time I travel to Sokcho I only end up at Jungang Market, or I go somewhere random for crab and end up disappointed. But I found it. My all-time favorite Sokcho sashimi restaurant!!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Why Daepo Port is a great last stop on a Sokcho trip

Daepo Port is so pretty, why doesn't anyone talk about it... When you search things to do in Sokcho, you mostly get the Sokcho-eye Ferris wheel, Yeonggeumjeong, or Jungang Market — Daepo Port barely comes up. But right in front of it there's now a newly built 5-star Cassia Hotel (opened in 2024) and a 4-star Ramada, so you can eat great food with a scenic view, have a drink, and walk to your hotel in under 5 minutes with zero worries about driving or parking. Perfect last stop for a Sokcho trip!!

Breakwater walking path and red lighthouse at Daepo Port

There's a nice breakwater walking path here too, well maintained for a stroll day or night with a pretty view. The red lighthouse is so cute ❤️

Lots of sashimi restaurants cluster around Daepo Port, and among them is Eobujiri in C-dong 24-ho!!! It has a high visitor rating and lots of satisfied reviews as a Sokcho snow crab spot, so I figured this one was the real deal and really wanted to visit.

Entrance of Eobujiri in C-dong of the Daepo Port sashimi restaurant street

And, personal preference, but the owner's photo is right there on the business's Naver Place listing... looks like a kind face haha. Putting your face out there like that has to be a mark of pride!!! The crabs look super meaty too!!> <

As a fellow dog lover, I appreciate that pets are welcome here and that there are dog photos hung up in the shop 🐶 The owner is definitely a good person, definitely, haha.

And sure enough, the place was selected for the Kelly & Blue Ribbon double impact award — a genuinely proven restaurant!!! 👍

Poster of the takeout set displayed at Eobujiri

There's a photo of the takeout set posted at the restaurant, and just from the photo it looks generous — and no exaggeration, it comes out exactly like that.

I didn't have time to eat in the restaurant on this Sokcho trip, but the takeout reviews were so good that I ordered takeout.

Open interior of Eobujiri with floor-to-ceiling windows

Inside Eobujiri: the dining room and the live fish tanks

Picking crab from the tanks at Eobujiri

Inside, Eobujiri has floor-to-ceiling windows front and back, giving it an open-air feel and a sense of spaciousness. With soft lighting on top, the interior feels like a tent-restaurant but the seats have backrests so you can eat comfortably.

Live fish tank outside Eobujiri

Step outside Eobujiri, the Daepo Port snow crab and sashimi spot, and there's a fish tank. The water was well managed, and the fish and crustaceans were all alive and moving, kept fresh. Since everything is prepared the moment you order, freshness is at its absolute best — no question about it!!

High-end fish and Dokdo shrimp in the tank

High-end fish and even prized Dokdo shrimp — all fresh and available at this genuine Sokcho favorite, Eobujiri. 🐠🦐

And on top of that, everything is domestic!! Not just domestic seafood — look closely and even the kimchi is domestically made ❤️

Eobujiri's menu and prices: are they fixed?

Eobujiri charges exactly what's on the menu — a fixed-price sashimi restaurant. I looked into a few other sashimi spots at Daepo Port and found either no pricing info at all or everything marked as market price, which can get you overcharged. Eobujiri, this genuine Sokcho snow crab and sashimi spot, is a great-value Sokcho crab place where the price on the menu is exactly what you pay.

The lunch special has me curious too *.* Lunch special runs 11:30–14:30. If you want a simple meal with fresh sashimi, I recommend the lunch special!

Ordering the 170,000 won snow crab and sashimi set to go

Container prepped for the takeout snow crab and sashimi set

I called ahead and they had it ready right on time. Daepo Port vibes + great-condition sashimi + high-yield crab & fried rice + vivid, fresh seafood platter + red crab ramyeon, all for ₩170,000 for the snow crab + sashimi set. A full table served to you with nothing to clean up, plus friendly service — not too heavy a price for something to splurge on while traveling.

Sashimi and seafood packed with ice packs for takeout

They asked how long it would take to get home and carefully packed ice packs between the sashimi and the seafood. Both the owner and the ajumma working there were sooo x22222 kind ㅜㅜ🩷 If price and service are similar between spots near Daepo Port, I think it's worth eating somewhere kind so you can enjoy a good meal in a good mood — I'd recommend this place for that. And the taste, well, that goes without saying — well above average 👍

And one more thing!!! Write a review and get a free assorted fried seafood platter 🍤 So generous, so generous.

The full takeout spread from Eobujiri, laid out

Heavy bag with the packed Eobujiri snow crab and sashimi set

Ta-da—* Packed nice and tight. I took the ice packs out for a moment to lift it with one hand and could barely manage — shaky shaky. Carried it home heavy and full.

The full snow crab + sashimi set spread out — so generous. It really comes exactly like the photo posted at the restaurant.

I thought the ramyeon (instant noodles) would just be plain noodles, but no — bean sprouts, green onion, and a whole big red crab thrown in!!! It's a sashimi + snow crab set, but with a red crab thrown in too, that's three treats in one 🦀❤️ Perfect hangover-curing ramyeon.

Fresh seafood side dishes (sukkidashi) ✨️

The sukkidashi (seafood side dish assortment) with Eobujiri's set is packed with sea squirt, blanched squid & octopus, shrimp, abalone, scallop, seaweed, and more. It shifted a little during transport so it wasn't perfectly arranged, but it's a vivid, fresh, beautiful-looking seafood platter ✨️ Great composition, great color.

The sea squirt (meongge) had that perfect glossy orange sheen 🪸 I can't eat sea squirt at all if it's even slightly fishy, but Eobujiri's had zero fishy smell — a fragrant, faintly bitter, salty taste of the fresh sea!! 🌊✨️ It was genuinely, incredibly fresh. Even someone who can't handle seafood could probably start here.

Close-up of the chewy seafood platter

The owner is a Daepo Port local who buys directly at the pre-dawn auction, so it's proper seafood — everything was in great condition and so fresh, chewy and crunchy, a real seafood party.

The blanched octopus was soft and chewy — dipped it deep into the chogochujang (vinegared chili paste) and took a big bite 🐙 Even as takeout, it wasn't at all lacking compared to eating in the restaurant.

Chewy, nutty flounder sashimi 🐟

Plate of translucent flounder sashimi
Eobujiri's flounder sashimi sliced to a good thickness

This is what truly translucent flounder sashimi looks like 🐟 Honestly, the best sashimi I've had in Sokcho, hands down!!!! Daepo Port sashimi is fresher than what I've had at Sokcho's Jungang Market. They wrapped it carefully in plastic wrap so nothing shifted even on the way home.

Sliced to a good thickness with a chewy, dense texture — the more you chew, the more a subtle sweetness and nuttiness comes through. Genuinely delicious. 🤍 Ahh I want to eat it again 🤤 I can't forget this taste... Even my mom, a picky sashimi lover, raved that it was so, so good 👍

Steamed snow crab packed with meat and flavor 🦀

Prepped snow crab leg meat

A jaw-dropping steamed snow crab 🦀 That vivid red color caught my eye immediately 👀 Both the leg meat and the body meat were plump and packed full.

Cross-section of a plump snow crab leg

The crab meat yield was 1,000,000% — packed solid with no gaps. The leg meat kept its fiber structure, chewy yet tender enough to fill your mouth with each bite!!

The thick leg meat and claw meat were all pre-cracked and prepped for easy eating, so you can enjoy it effortlessly.

Look at how plump the claw meat is > < 🦀❤️🦀❤️🦀❤️🦀 The more you chew, the more sweet umami bursts out — take a big bite and it's pure bliss.

Close-up of plump snow crab claw meat

The tender leg meat is huge and so plump! No fishy taste at all, just clean and light with springy crab meat that's moist, and the natural sweetness snow crab is known for comes through perfectly. Genuinely the real deal Daepo Port snow crab spot. 👍❤️

The body meat is just as packed. The clean crab meat combined with the savory, salty crab tomalley (innards) takes the umami up a notch!! Great for picking out bite by bite.

A rich crab tomalley fried rice served in the shell, topped with crab meat — one bite and you're in bliss round two ~🥰🥰🥰💕💕💕

Spicy red crab ramyeon to finish the meal

Wrapping it up with ramyeon (instant noodles), of course! A whole big red crab was thrown in the pot. Cooked with the red crab, the broth is refreshing from the start, with seafood flavor naturally seeping into it, and the added green onion and bean sprouts made it spicy yet clean-tasting! The best hangover-curing ramyeon!! Haha, a perfect finish 👏 👏 👏

Is Eobujiri at Sokcho's Daepo Port worth it? Final verdict

  • A place to soak in Daepo Port's harbor vibe — great walking path, nearby hotels, and good parking make it a perfect Sokcho destination too!
  • A Daepo Port snow crab spot that nails taste, service, price, and kindness all at once in the sashimi restaurant street
  • A place to enjoy fresh, high-yield seafood and sashimi without fail during a Sokcho trip
  • A kind owner & prices that are genuinely great value
  • 200% would visit again — a real Daepo Port snow crab and sashimi favorite

🦀 Eobujiri in Sokcho 🦀 Highly recommend ✨️
