Coffee shop in Seocho, Seoul for fruity americano and babka: Mini Male
In short
Mini Male Coffee Roaster Gyodae Court Branch is a specialty roastery café within walking distance of Gyodae Station in Seocho, Seoul. On a late-afternoon visit, the largest americano made with the fruity, acidic bean was fragrant with no burnt edge, the Helsinki latte lived up to its popularity, and the original babka was chewy without being very sweet. Seating at Mini Male is tight and much of the bread sells out by afternoon, so come early if bread is the goal.

I stopped by Mini Male Coffee Roaster Gyodae Court Branch while I had some business near Gyodae Station. It's open weekdays from 8 AM to 10 PM, and weekends from 9 AM to 7 PM.

We strip away the unnecessary and focus only on essential value and quality. Where the gravity of the courthouse meets the energy of Gyodae, Mini Male offers a moment of ease in a cup. This is the Gyodae Court branch.
A cup of coffee for a solid day.

Mini Male Gyodae Court Branch: seating and atmosphere near Gyodae Station
Mini Male Coffee Roaster Gyodae Court Branch isn't a large space. Before going in I was surprised at how few seats seemed available. It's in a high foot-traffic area, so it's likely to be full on weekends.

This photo was taken during a brief lull when a few customers had left. Plenty of people stay to sit, but there's also a lot of takeout and delivery at this Gyodae Station café.

The three beans and the menu at Mini Male
Mini Male is a café that focuses on specialty coffee, so it has a wide range of coffee and non-coffee menu items.
The three principles Mini Male sticks to! 1. Specialty beans sourced directly and roasted to our own designed profile — only high-quality green beans scoring 80+ on cupping. At our Seocho-dong roastery, we research and profile our own beans, maximizing their character and offering three choices to suit your taste. Balance: Ethiopia's pleasant sourness in harmony with clean sweetness. Dunkel: heavy body at its dark chocolate peak. Decaf: the balanced flavor of Colombian coffee, without the caffeine.
That day I ordered an americano (the sour-note type) and a babka.

Babka might be their specialty... there are several kinds, so you can order to your taste.

Is the bread sold out by late afternoon at Mini Male?
Since I visited a bit later in the afternoon, a lot of breads were already sold out — looking around, bread here seems to sell well overall.

Plenty of customers were just picking up bread to take out.

It's not just the bread — the handmade New York cookies also looked great. They're kneaded and baked fresh daily at a bakery lab in Gaepo-dong using Mini Male's own recipe. If you love a moist New York cookie done right, this could be a solid pick.

How the fruity americano tasted
What I ordered.

Started with the largest size sour-note americano first, haha. True to a shop that handles specialty coffee directly, the sour-note type was fragrant, clean with no burnt taste, and full of aromatic acidity. If you like sour-forward beans, definitely try the sour-note option here.

Why everyone orders the Helsinki latte
I also ordered the Helsinki latte, described as the best latte discovered in Helsinki, Finland.

Looking around, so many people had ordered the Helsinki latte that I got curious — and after tasting it, I understood why.

Mini Male's signature Helsinki Latte is described as their own recipe reinterpretation of the soft, rich latte they encountered while traveling in Northern Europe — not overly sweet, with the nuttiness of milk meeting specialty espresso for what they call an unforgettable 'latte of a lifetime.' One sip and you might get hooked on that nutty flavor.

Original babka: chewy texture, mild sweetness
A bread flower in bloom — this babka looks like a flower.

Cardamom buns are fairly common, but bakeries specializing in babka specifically aren't easy to find — at Mini Male near Gyodae Station, you can try various babka flavors.

I went with the basic original, but there are various flavors, so order to your taste.

Not crispy, but chewy in texture. Splitting it open, there's plenty of filling inside — chocolate and nuts, but it's not very sweet.

Maybe because I'm used to cardamom buns, the texture felt similar but somehow missing the cinnamon and cardamom? Haha.

The harmony of layered chocolate and bread.

A flavor that's great to nibble alongside coffee!

Even the knife is shaped like a sablé!
The Gyodae Court branch is located within easy walking distance for anyone looking for a café near Gyodae Station — it's a natural gathering spot for people steadying themselves before courthouse business, those needing a brief pause before a meeting near Gyodae Station, and office workers looking for a hearty bakery brunch during lunch.
