Sunday 5pm window seats at Waltz and Dr. Mahn, a Namyangju river café

This time I visited Waltz and Dr. Mahn in Namyangju. I'd wanted to go for ages because of its atmospheric interior, and I finally got the chance! It's not one of those big bakery-style cafés — it's a slightly unusual Bukhan River café that combines a coffee museum with a restaurant. I'd been looking for somewhere to drive along the river and spend a quiet time together, and this fit the bill perfectly.

Where is Waltz and Dr. Mahn? A Bukhan River café near Dumulmeori with easy parking

Waltz and Dr. Mahn is located at 856-37 Bukhangang-ro, Joan-myeon, Namyangju-si, Gyeonggi-do. It's not far by car from Dumulmeori and Mului Jeongwon, so it slots naturally into a Bukhan River drive route.

We drove there, and the parking lot was much roomier than expected. Riverside cafés often mean circling the block for a spot on weekends, but there was none of that stress here.

※ The café and the museum have separate operating hours. If you want to see the museum too, arrive no later than 4pm.

Coffee museum hours at Waltz and Dr. Mahn: last entry 4pm

We arrived around 5pm, and it turned out the Waltz and Dr. Mahn coffee museum's last entry was 4pm, with viewing ending at 5pm. Apparently you can see everything from coffee seedlings to a tasting there, so I'll need to come back during daytime hours next time.

If you're planning to see the museum, just remember two things: closed Mondays and Tuesdays, and entry before 4pm.

What the Bukhan River looks like from the window seats

We sat by the window. The Bukhan River was right there through the glass, and I felt good the moment we sat down.

The weather's been nice lately, so the terrace seating looked like a good option too!

There was no live performance the day we went, but apparently there's a Friday concert held separately every Friday evening.

Looking around inside, the restaurant side was much prettier. If you want to really soak in the atmosphere, having a full meal there seems worthwhile! For anniversaries or a slightly dressed-up date, I'd recommend making a restaurant reservation.

Nearly full at 5pm, quiet after 6pm

When we walked into Waltz and Dr. Mahn at 5pm on a Sunday, seats were nearly all taken. It felt a bit awkward taking photos, but by around 6pm, a lot of guests had cleared out.

From that point on, the space felt more relaxed and I could take photos comfortably. If you want to sit quietly or capture photos of the space, evening seems like the better time.

Mocaccino, Honor and Chevalier, and seasonal fruit cheesecake (9,000 won)

We ordered these three things.

My favorite was the Honor and Chevalier. It's a parfait-style menu built on a Dutch coffee or cold milk base, topped with vanilla and chocolate ice cream, cheesecake, and seasonal fruit. Maybe because of the fresh fruit, it wasn't just sweet — it felt refreshing going down. The portion was decent for two people to share, too. The mocaccino, an espresso-based drink topped with real chocolate and milk foam, had a properly mocha flavor without being over-dressed.

The seasonal fruit cheesecake was ₩9,000, and given the drink prices, it was the best value of the three. The drinks aren't exactly cheap, so this felt less like a spot for a casual coffee and more like a place where you're paying for the atmosphere along with your order.

Tips for visiting Waltz and Dr. Mahn in Namyangju

• If you want to see the coffee museum, you must arrive before 4pm.
• The café and restaurant run until 9pm (10pm on Saturdays), so it's also good for river views at dusk.
• On our Sunday visit, it got quiet after 6pm in the evening.
• Window seats have Bukhan River views, but the restaurant side is prettier if you want the full atmosphere.
• It's one drink per person, so you'll need to order a drink for everyone in your group. Budget extra if you're adding dessert.
