Yeoju Gayam hanwoo BBQ with gochujang yukhoe: Namyeoju Baechu
In short
Namyeoju Baechu Doenjang-guk Sukseong Gogi-jip is an aged hanwoo (Korean beef) restaurant in Gayam-eup, Yeoju, Gyeonggi. After shopping at Yeoju Premium Outlets, the writer visited with her parents and ordered 500g of hanwoo sirloin, gochujang yukhoe (raw beef with chili paste) and hangover ramyeon, all grilled tableside by the owner on a cast-iron plate. Between the Maldon salt, grilled wasabi and grilled perilla leaf pickle combinations and the closing bowl of ramyeon, Namyeoju Baechu made for a family dinner worth the drive.

Last week I went shopping with my parents at Yeoju Premium Outlets, and after a great haul, we headed to dinner at a place I'd pre-scouted: Namyeoju Baechu Doenjang-guk Sukseong Gogi-jip (남여주배추된장국 숙성고깃집)!
After walking around all day shopping, I was desperately craving something rich and savory,,, haha. If you search for restaurants near Yeoju Outlet, plenty come up, but I wanted properly aged hanwoo (Korean beef), so I went straight for Namyeoju Baechu Doenjang-guk without a second thought!
Let me tell you about our happy meal — sirloin grilled by the owner herself, which made it even tastier, and the best hangover ramyeon of my life.♥

Everyone!! Apparently if you get a hole-in-one at a nearby golf course, you can get free hanwoo sirloin 500g as an event prize. 🏌🏻♂️ I don't have a hole-in-one under my belt yet, so it was out of reach for me... 🥹 But if you're one of the lucky few who's pulled it off, don't forget to visit and claim your delicious hanwoo treat.

The inside is spacious, so you can eat comfortably without feeling cramped.

What three of us ordered for a family dinner
At Namyeoju Baechu Doenjang-guk we ordered hanwoo 500g, plus yukhoe (raw beef) and hangover ramyeon on the side. The menu was laid out clearly and was easy to browse — since it was a full family visit, we went all out and ordered generously!
- Our order - Hanwoo 500g, yukhoe, hangover ramyeon
The hangover ramyeon is apparently this place's specialty — I heard some people come just for that ramyeon after the beef — so I was really looking forward to it!

They say what you grill your meat on is half the battle, and the moment that heavy cast-iron plate showed up, I thought, ah, this is the real deal.

The signature napa cabbage doenjang-guk with round-cut radish
The side dishes and the restaurant's signature napa cabbage doenjang-guk (soybean paste soup) were set down, and the deep, savory broth flavor was seriously amazing ⑉♥

Unusually, the doenjang-guk had radish sliced into round coins — and thanks to that round radish, the broth had a much cleaner, deeper flavor.

Hanwoo sirloin grilled tableside by the owner
And here comes today's star — the sirloin! Isn't that color amazing?
On the sizzling-hot cast-iron plate, the owner herself laid down high-quality hanwoo sirloin, and with a sharp sizzle, the savory beef aroma hit my nose.

The quality of the meat was so good, the marbling alone was a work of art, and thanks to the cast-iron plate, the juices stayed locked in — crisp outside, juicy inside, cooked just right.

Three ways to eat the hanwoo sirloin
After grilling each piece with care, the owner walked us through the best way to eat it: Maldon salt, grilled wasabi, and grilled perilla leaf pickle — three combinations.
First, dipped in Maldon salt
I picked up a piece, dipped it in Maldon salt, and the second it hit my mouth it just melted — truly excellent texture. It melted away like ice cream...
Second, with grilled wasabi on top

She told us grilling wasabi on the cast-iron pan and putting it on the meat was delicious, so we tried it, and it was truly an eye-opening flavor haha. The spiciness of the wasabi disappears and its aroma comes alive! A completely new combo, and so delicious 🤤..
Third, with grilled perilla leaf pickle on top
This combo is fresh too, right? I never once thought of grilling perilla leaf pickle (kkaennip jangajji), but grilling it and eating it together, the perilla leaf completely cut through the richness of the beef, leaving a salty, savory finish that was amazing. All three combos were so fresh and delicious my chopsticks never stopped moving 𖤐ˊ˗

Gochujang yukhoe and Yeoju Suhyangmi rice
The gochujang yukhoe (raw beef with chili paste) that came with it felt truly fresh, and the seasoning wasn't overdone, so the beef's natural savory flavor really came through. The best side dish to snack on between bites of grilled meat haha.

The rice was really good too — she told us it's cooked with a blend of Yeoju rice and Suhyangmi rice. The stickiness and shine were amazing, and it was so savory you could eat the rice alone and love it!

Wine glass vending machine: the white wine dad picked
And one really unique, delightful spot at Namyeoju Baechu Doenjang-guk was the wine glass vending machine! You can pick a glass of sweet red, white, or dry red wine depending on your taste — the moment my dad saw it, he said he had to have wine, so he picked a chilled white.
Nicely, even the glass came out perfectly chilled, so the moment it hit our lips, the refreshing crispness doubled. Go family — cheers ♥♥♥
The highlight: hangover ramyeon on the cast-iron plate
But the real highlight of the day was the hangover ramyeon (haejang ramyeon) that came at the end!

Honestly I figured all ramyeon tastes about the same, but after one bite I was floored,, seriously the best ramyeon of my life ㅠ

On the same cast-iron plate the beef was grilled on, she stir-fried onion, green onion, and honeycomb tripe (seuji),

then added soup base, water, and noodles.
She kept lifting the noodles up into the air as she simmered them with real care, and maybe that's why the noodles ended up with the chewiest, springiest texture imaginable 🤤 🍜 🫶🏻

The pickled radish and kimchi that came with it were so good too, that even though we were already full, we just kept slurping down more ramyeon hehe. Genuinely a restaurant on a whole different level of depth and savoriness ⸝⸝⸝⋆
Is Namyeoju Baechu worth it after Yeoju Premium Outlets shopping?
This was a happy meal thanks to the owner's care in grilling everything herself and unforgettable side dishes! If you're shopping at Yeoju Outlet and want a great atmosphere with properly done hanwoo and top-notch side dishes, definitely visit Namyeoju Baechu Doenjang-guk Sukseong Gogi-jip. Highly recommend it.♥
