Aged hanwoo sirloin grilling on the iron pan

I was heading down to the countryside for some business and wanted a hearty meal on the way, so I stopped by a place near Namyeoju IC and Ariji CC and Jayuro CC — Namyeoju Baechu Doenjang-guk Sukseong Gogi-jip (남여주배추된장국 숙성고깃집), a spot many golfers hit up before or after a round. It started with a savory yet refreshing napa cabbage doenjang soup to wake up my appetite, then tender, rich hanwoo sirloin, and finally a clean, savory hangover ramyeon to finish. From the beef to the noodles, everything was so satisfying that I really wanted to introduce this Yeoju Outlet-area beef restaurant to you all. Let me show you around 😗

This is the exterior of Namyeoju Baechu Doenjang-guk Sukseong Gogi-jip, a standalone building near the golf course that apparently runs special events for hole-in-ones or eagles. There's a spacious dedicated parking lot both in front and behind the building, which was a nice relief — no parking stress at all.

Table layout inside the restaurant
Well-spaced seating and group tables in the restaurant

The interior is cozy and well kept — surprisingly pleasant for a beef restaurant. The table setup is varied, including group seating, and the tables are spaced generously apart. On top of that, this is a corkage-free spot in Yeoju, which makes it a great choice for golf gatherings or company dinners.

Iron pan and basic table setting

First came the iron pan and the side dishes!

Side dishes including perilla leaf pickles and gungchae

The spread included perilla leaf pickles, gungchae (chrysanthemum stem pickle), chili strip pickles, jjasai, garlic, ssamjang, and wasabi, plus a neatly set-up self-service corner for refills.

Water-aged hanwoo sirloin grilled by the owner at your table

Bright red water-aged hanwoo sirloin

The sirloin arrived showing off its bright red color, aged using the water-aging method.

Thick-cut sirloin placed on an oiled iron pan

Oil went onto the heated iron pan, and the thick-cut sirloin went straight on to start grilling.

Napa cabbage doenjang soup and scallion salad served alongside

Meanwhile the napa cabbage doenjang soup and scallion salad arrived. I love a rich, thick doenjang jjigae, but I'm also a huge fan of this milder, lighter napa cabbage doenjang soup style. Honestly, I was curious what the broth was made from — it was incredibly refreshing...!

Owner grilling the hanwoo sirloin himself

The owner grilled it himself, carefully sealing in the juices. Just look at it — doesn't it look amazing already?

Sirloin browned nicely on the outside
Sinew trimmed and sirloin sliced into bite-sized pieces

After browning the outside nicely, he trimmed off the sinew and sliced it into bite-sized pieces.

Sirloin pieces with the inner side lightly seared

He lightly seared the inner side too, just enough, and told us to dig in haha.

My first bite was dipped in Maldon salt — the deep, rich hanwoo flavor and aroma really came through.

A piece of hanwoo sirloin topped with wasabi

Paired with a bit of sharp wasabi, it was fantastic too — clean and not greasy at all. Honestly moving.

Aged hanwoo sirloin eaten with scallion salad

It was an unbeatable combo with the scallion salad too. Being aged hanwoo, the juiciness and tenderness were just next level.

Grilled wasabi and pickled perilla leaves: the signature way to eat it

Wasabi lightly grilled on the iron pan
Sirloin served with grilled wasabi

A tip from Culinary Class Wars chef Yoon Nam-no: lightly grilling wasabi softens its sharp, raw heat and gives it an avocado-like flavor. It really is a rare treat. Everyone, I'm jumping on the grilled-wasabi trend too 🔥

A piece of meat wrapped in lightly grilled perilla leaf pickle

He also lightly grilled some perilla leaf pickles and wrapped a piece of meat inside — also a real treat.

Why the hanwoo post-meal hangover ramyeon is a must-order

Hanwoo post-meal hangover ramyeon cooking in the iron pan

At this Geumgang CC-area favorite, ramyeon after the beef is non-negotiable! They cook it with the sinew trimmed from the sirloin, plus onion, scallion, and chili.

Cooked right in the same iron pan the sirloin was grilled in, the broth had such deep, rich flavor that it felt like a hangover cure even though I hadn't had a drop of alcohol. The ramyeon was so refreshing and packed with umami... I'm craving it again just writing this. The moment I tasted it, I understood exactly why some customers say they come for the hanwoo just to get to this ramyeon.

They also brought out napa cabbage kimchi and pickled radish, the perfect match for ramyeon.

He asked if we liked chewy noodles and then put on a little show to prove it haha.

Why Namyeoju Baechu suits a golf round or a Yeoju Outlet shopping day

This is a great place to stop before or after shopping at Yeoju Outlet, and since it opens as early as 5:30am, you could settle your stomach with the napa cabbage doenjang soup and 7-side-dish set before a round, then finish strong after golf with quality beef and a drink — that really felt like the best of both worlds. And since visiting twice in one day gets you a free gochujang yukhoe, that's more than enough reason to consider making two trips in a day! If you're near Ariji CC in Yeoju and craving clean, gamey-smell-free, rich hanwoo, why not head to Namyeoju Baechu Doenjang-guk Sukseong Gogi-jip, a favorite near Yeoju Outlet?
