Water-aged hanwoo tenderloin grilled tableside near Yeoju Outlet

In short

Namyeoju Baechu Doenjang-guk Sukseong Gogi-jip is an aged hanwoo (Korean beef) restaurant in Gunam-eup, Yeoju, Gyeonggi, between Haesley Nine Bridges CC and Yeoju Premium Outlets. With family, an iron-pan hanwoo tenderloin, iron-pan hangover ramyeon, and white wine were shared, and the owner's tableside grilling service stood out from start to finish. It's a solid stop for a hearty meal before or after a round of golf, or on the way to the outlets.

The weather was so nice that we headed out for a drive and some shopping at Yeoju Premium Outlets. Since it was an awkward time for lunch, my family stopped at this aged-meat restaurant on the way to the outlets, filled up on hanwoo tenderloin and hangover ramyeon, then went on to walk around and shop at the outlets.

Near Haesley Nine Bridges CC, packed with golf-wear customers at weekend lunch

The Yeoju Outlet-area restaurant we visited was Namyeoju Baechu Doenjang-guk Sukseong Gogi-jip. It's located near Haesley Nine Bridges CC, so it's a popular stop before or after a round. Sure enough, on the weekend lunch we visited, literally everyone but us was in golf wear haha.

It's near Namyeoju IC and is a standalone building with a big parking lot, so it's easy to reach by car. Besides the lot in front, there's more parking in the back, so it's fine for group visits after a round — and since it opens at 5:30am, it's also a great Haesley Nine Bridges CC restaurant for a hearty breakfast before teeing off.

Hole-in-one and eagle events

True to its Haesley Nine Bridges CC restaurant reputation, they're running an event where a hole-in-one gets you 500g of hanwoo sirloin free, and an eagle gets you 360g of pork belly or one free set menu. Getting to enjoy delicious aged meat plus a perk like this after a round is probably why so many customers keep coming back.

Spacious interior with generously spaced tables

Interior and seating

The interior is spacious with plenty of tables, so groups can visit without worry. The tables are set generously apart, so you can chat and enjoy your meal without being bothered by the next table.

Corner selling range balls and Yeoju rice

Since a lot of golfers visit, they also sell various range balls, and below that, true to a Yeoju restaurant known for rice, they sell Yeoju rice and Okhyangmi rice.

In one corner of the restaurant you can see the aging fridge storing quality hanwoo and pork. If you buy meat to take home, it's 30% off, and they pack it with ice packs and a cooler bag — worth knowing if you want to buy at a reasonable price.

Wine vending machine and self-serve bar

What stood out most was the red wine vending machine. I always thought wine had to be ordered from staff, but here you can easily pick a wine to your taste from the machine. Choose a house-aged red or white, sweet or dry, and pair it with the aged meat.

There's a separate self-serve bar so you can freely refill any side dishes you need. *Extra side dishes, small plates, sauces, and aprons are provided.

Ordering is easy via the tablet at each table. If you visit twice in one day, you get a free serving of gochujang-marinated raw beef (yukhoe) — making this Yeoju Outlet-area restaurant Namyeoju Baechu a great pick to visit before and after a round.

What's on the menu

The menu is varied with plenty of choice. From the doenjang-guk (soybean paste soup) set with 7 side dishes to yeontan bulgogi (charcoal-grilled beef), jeyuk bokkeum (spicy stir-fried pork), grilled salted mackerel, Jeju black pork raw belly, whole hanger steak, whole prawn, iron-pan hanwoo sirloin, hanwoo tenderloin, and hangover ramyeon — there's everything from light meals to top-quality hanwoo and pork.

Basic side dishes and doenjang-guk

The basic side dishes come out neatly arranged, mostly pickled vegetables, and the doenjang-guk (soybean paste soup) is served generously.

Portioned doenjang-guk and a bowl of rice

After scooping out a portion, the doenjang-guk was refreshing yet deep in flavor — I finished a whole bowl of rice with it in no time. I get why so many people order the cabbage soup with the 7-side-dish set.

Raw water-aged hanwoo tenderloin

Water-aged hanwoo tenderloin, grilled tableside by the owner

This is hanwoo tenderloin aged using the water-aging method. The thick cut, bright red color, and marbling all look like clearly high quality just from the look of it.

Hanwoo tenderloin placed on a heated cast iron pan

Hanwoo grilled on a well-heated cast iron pan gets an extra nutty flavor from the Maillard reaction. It locks in the juices while boosting the aroma, so you get an even higher-quality taste out of the beef.

Best of all, at this Yeoju Outlet-area restaurant, the owner personally grills the meat for you from start to finish. When you come with kids, you're usually torn between minding them and grilling the meat, but here they handle it all and grill it perfectly, so you really feel taken care of and can enjoy a more relaxed meal. Since they age female cattle rather than castrated bulls, the meat is even more savory and tender.

Maldon salt, wasabi, and pickled chili strips

Once the hanwoo tenderloin is well grilled on the iron pan, you eat it however you like — with salt, wasabi, or scallion strips. If you want to taste the meat's natural flavor, I'd recommend a light dip in salt. This Yeoju Outlet-area aged-meat restaurant serves Maldon salt instead of regular salt, giving a crisp, crunchy texture without being too salty, so you get the meat's true nutty flavor.

Hanwoo tenderloin served with Maldon salt and wasabi

A tastier way to enjoy it with wasabi! The owner grilled it for us himself, saying that piling wasabi on the meat and grilling it on the iron pan removes the sharp bite so it's more enjoyable. He joked the grilled wasabi ends up looking like a marshmallow haha.

Personally, my favorite combination was hanwoo tenderloin with pickled chili strips. The slightly spicy pickled chili strips together with the savory, juicy, tender tenderloin were so good... highly recommend this combo too!!

A glass of white wine paired with hanwoo tenderloin

You can't have meat without wine! We each ordered a glass of wine and paired it with the perfectly grilled hanwoo tenderloin, and it felt like being at a fine restaurant. If you're looking for a good place to treat your golf buddies after a round at Haesley Nine Bridges CC, I'd recommend the iron-pan hanwoo here at Namyeoju Baechu Doenjang-guk Sukseong Gogi-jip.

For dessert, iron-pan hangover ramyeon

Ordered to sober up but ends up making you want another drink — that's this iron-pan hangover ramyeon. Since it's cooked in the same cast iron pan the hanwoo was grilled in, the broth is spicy and deeply flavorful.

Noodles lifted up to cool while cooking the ramyeon

For chewy, springy noodles, they dip the noodles into the hot broth and then lift them up into the cool air, repeating this process several times while cooking.

Maybe that's why the noodles held their shape without going mushy and came out perfectly chewy — it made the whole dish taste even better. On top of that, the ramyeon broth simmered in beef fat was spicy with a rich, deep flavor — truly the best.

Wrap-up

Namyeoju Baechu Doenjang-guk Sukseong Gogi-jip is a restaurant I'd recommend near Yeoju Outlet. The water-aged hanwoo tenderloin was tender with savory juices and top quality, and the hangover ramyeon's spicy broth was excellent — altogether a really satisfying meal. It's close to Haesley Nine Bridges CC, so it's great to visit before or after a round, and it's also near Yeoju Premium Outlets, making it convenient for shoppers too. :)
