Sokcho red snow crab takeout: Yes Susan
In short
Yes Susan is a seafood takeout shop in Sokcho Central Market, where I picked a lunchbox with two red snow crabs and added two crab-shell fried rice portions. The crab was meaty and pickup was quick on a weekday, but I found the crab less sweet than expected and the fried rice lacking richness.

Where can you get red snow crab takeout at Sokcho Central Market?
While vacationing in Gangwon-do, I stopped by Yes Susan (예스수산) at Sokcho Central Market to get red snow crab to go. I do not usually eat crustaceans because of the price, but I wanted to try them while traveling.

The shop was tucked inside an alley, and its blue sign stood out. It is behind the rest area, in the row of shops to the left of the Sokcho Tourism & Fisheries Market underground parking entrance. The address is Unit 124, 1F, Tourism Fisheries Market, 16 Jungang-ro 147beon-gil. A notice said that customers using the Central Market underground parking lot receive a 30-minute parking voucher.
The hours listed in the original post were 10:30 AM to 8:30 PM, and the shop is closed every Tuesday. Takeout orders were available from 11 AM, and delivery was also available.

What came in the red snow crab lunchbox, and how much was it?
Yes Susan has red snow crab and king crab lunchboxes that work well for one or two people. They seemed convenient for taking away with other market food.

On the day I visited, only red snow crab lunchboxes were available. I had hoped to eat king crab, so that was a little disappointing.

The lunchbox price and contents change daily at market price. All the red snow crab lunchboxes displayed that day were ₩25,000.

I was able to choose the red snow crab lunchbox I wanted. The one I picked contained two crabs, and fried rice was an additional ₩2,000 per crab shell. With two fried rice portions added, the total came to ₩29,000.

Besides lunchboxes, I could order a whole king crab, steamed scallops, seasoned raw crab, and more. The shop also said it could prepare portions for families or groups.
How long does pickup take when you add fried rice?
I could also watch the staff prepare red snow crab at the shop. Their hands moved quickly.

The red snow crab was prepared in advance, so I could pick it up right away when ordering only crab. Fried rice was stir-fried to order; on the weekday I visited, it took about five minutes with no additional wait.

What did I eat with it at the accommodation?
I took the packed red snow crab back to my accommodation. The instructions said to eat the crab as is because microwaving it can dry out the meat, and to heat only the fried rice separately.

I paired the red snow crab with Sauvignon Blanc La Cantera white wine. To my taste, the wine's acidity went well with the crab.

I also laid out dakgangjeong (sweet crispy chicken), nurungji ojingeo sundae (scorched-rice squid sausage), gamja-jeon (potato pancake), and Abai sundae from Central Market.

Were the red snow crab meat and fried rice satisfying?
Even the small legs and claws were full of meat. I am not very experienced at picking crab meat, but the four plastic gloves provided were helpful while eating.

The leg meat was salty, and I was disappointed that it had less sweetness than I expected. I thought it would go well with the broth if added to ramen.

I had seen many reviews praising the fried rice, so I added two portions with high expectations.

To my taste, it was closer to rice mixed with seaweed. Rather than the rich flavor I expected, it seemed to lack nuttiness and distinct rice texture. The takeout was quick and the red snow crab was meaty, but I was left wanting more sweetness from the crab and more from the fried rice. Next time, I would like to try king crab.
