Yeonnam-dong café near Gyeongui Line Forest Trail for panna salata

Today I visited an espresso bar in Yeonnam-dong with a really great atmosphere. It's near the Yeonnam-dong forest trail, so it's a nice stop while walking, and it's the kind of café where you can enjoy the terrace on a cool evening like this. I went to check out Pip Espresso Bar for a friend who loves terraces.

I went in the evening after the sun set, and the vibe was insane!!!!!! But it's not just the terrace — the interior is also spacious and full of atmosphere, so it's a café I want to go back to. Let me introduce Pip Espresso Bar.

Where is Pip Espresso Bar, and what are its hours?

Pip Espresso Bar is tucked inside Yeonnam-dong, so if you're coming by subway, expect about a 15-minute walk. But since you can walk along the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail on the way, the location really isn't a problem haha.

Inside, outside and the mosquitoes on the terrace

This is the exterior of Pip Espresso Bar in Yeonnam-dong. I thought it was a café I didn't know, but once I got there, I realized I actually knew it — I'd wanted to visit but it was always packed. Today though, there were plenty of seats both on the terrace and inside, so I happily grabbed a spot.

The atmosphere is really good, right? Haha. If there's one downside, it's that on nice cool weather like this, there are a lot of mosquitoes. Haha. I sat on the terrace figuring I'd move inside if I got bitten too much.

I also checked out the inside, and there were really a lot of seats. When I went, there were this many seats available, but since they're open later than most places nearby, customers kept coming in.

This is the ordering counter, and the lamp interior around it is really pretty — the lighting mood was great. It's also a pet-friendly café, so it seemed like a great spot for people who have dogs.

They even have a water cup (paper cup) prepared for dogs like this.

Tasting Pip Coffee, panna salata and the chocolate financier

What I ordered at Pip Espresso Bar in Yeonnam-dong was the signature Pip Coffee, the best-seller espresso Panna Salata, and the chocolate financier. I've been eating a lot of financiers lately haha. I wanted to try the tiramisu too, but I was already full, so I kept it light today.

Ta-da! The atmosphere is seriously so good. Just for that alone — pass. Definitely come here for a date. Highly recommend.

The chocolate financier was thick and dense. It was really chewy, and the bits of chocolate dotted throughout gave it a great chewy texture. And there was a lot of chocolate but it wasn't too sweet, which is totally my style ❤️

The Panna Salata espresso is a drink with espresso, cream, and pink salt. It was genuinely fascinating how you could taste the bitter espresso, the sweet cream, and then the lingering saltiness at the end, all at once. Of course, it tasted great too. Because of the cream, you get sweetness before the bitterness hits. If you avoid espresso because you're worried it'll be too bitter, give this one a try.

This is the Pip Coffee. It's described as Earl Grey-based with espresso and cream, and I thought 'wait, Earl Grey in espresso?' but it's totally charming. There's a reason it's the signature menu item. It had a subtle Earl Grey aroma with sweet coffee and no bitterness.

At first they told me to drink half without mixing, then mix the rest for a second flavor once it's half gone. Mixed together, it really became a sweet coffee that put me in a good mood while drinking it, haha. Even though it was a late-night coffee, I really enjoyed drinking it. I held back from ordering a latte too.
