Inside Sokcho Topgol Makguksu: seating for groups

Inside there were more than 10 tables seating 4–6, and even at that awkward past-2pm weekday hour, customers kept coming in — that's how popular this Sokcho makguksu spot is!
Sokcho Topgol Makguksu menu and prices

There was a wide variety of buckwheat-based dishes. Buckwheat makguksu, perilla oil buckwheat makguksu, buckwheat kalguksu and more — with so many buckwheat options, it looked great for ordering a bunch to share among several people.
Ordering four bowls for the table

We ordered a variety from buckwheat makguksu to buckwheat kalguksu to buckwheat dumplings, and ate a really hearty spread haha
✔️Deulmemak (₩13,000) ✔️Buckwheat makguksu (large) (₩13,000) ✔️Buckwheat perilla kalguksu (₩12,000) ✔️Buckwheat king dumpling soup (₩12,000)
Deulmemak, 13,000 won

First up was this Sokcho makguksu spot's signature dish, the perilla oil buckwheat noodles, deulmemak~! Makguksu loaded with nutty perilla oil, how could you resist🤤

Nutty perilla oil, sesame seeds, dried seaweed flakes, and fragrant perilla leaves come together for a nutty flavor that's never too heavy, so I kept reaching for more — fully convinced this is the holy land of deulmemak in Sokcho!! It's easy to eat without feeling weighed down, so I'd recommend it to anyone, any age.
Large buckwheat makguksu, 13,000 won
Next up was the spicy buckwheat makguksu! Kind of like ordering half-and-half fried chicken🤣 we got it alongside the deulmemak haha. We ordered the large size to share, and the portion was seriously generous~

Two whole egg halves on top too~~ With the spicy-sweet umami sauce added, it has a totally different charm from the nutty deulmemak, so I'd recommend ordering both to share.

Above all, the buckwheat noodles themselves were boiled really well, so they were delicious in any combination. And unlike wheat noodles, my stomach didn't feel heavy afterward, making it a perfect healthy dining option!

They also serve dongchimi (radish water kimchi) broth on the side, and pouring it into the noodles to taste adds extra umami, letting you experience several flavors in one bowl!
Buckwheat perilla kalguksu, 12,000 won

Next we tried the buckwheat kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup)~ Anyway, it comes in a huge bowl with a really generous portion, great value!!

The broth loaded with perilla seeds was rich and nutty, a flavor that kept me coming back for more! I feel like it'd be even better on a cold day haha

Buckwheat kalguksu has a different charm from regular kalguksu, and it digested well with no heavy feeling afterward — great!
Buckwheat king dumpling soup, 12,000 won

Another warm soup, buckwheat king dumpling soup~ As expected, a generous visual packed with king dumplings haha. Overall the portions were so generous, I fully approve this as a great-value restaurant!!

The buckwheat king dumpling wrapper felt like actual buckwheat, and the filling was substantial too, so each and every one felt satisfying and filling!!
