Beef tripe pho hangover cure in Haeundae: Cheongsapo Rice Noodles
In short
Cheongsapo Rice Noodles Main Branch (Cheongsapo Ssal Guksu Bonjeom) is a Korean-style pho restaurant right on the Cheongsapo seafront in Haeundae, Busan. Three of us shared beef tripe pho, spicy beef pho and chicken rice-crust pho plus butter shrimp fried rice, and a free banh xeo (Vietnamese savoury pancake) arrived because we ordered two bowls of pho. The spicy broth, rich with tripe and beef fat, was the perfect hangover cure the morning after drinking.

Inside Cheongsapo Rice Noodles: seating and sea view
The inside of Cheongsapo Rice Noodles felt seriously authentic — like I'd actually landed in Vietnam. Since it was lunchtime and this is a well-known spot, most tables were full. Lots of foreign visitors too, which felt kind of nostalgic haha.

There's a baby chair, and you can store luggage or bags too, which makes this a great spot for tourists to stop and eat.
Menu prices and the free banh xeo with two bowls
Here's the menu at Cheongsapo Rice Noodles. There were plenty of pho variations done in a Korean style.

You order through table-order tablets at each table. Adding cilantro is an option you choose at ordering.
Order two bowls of pho and the banh xeo is free! Free banh xeo — what a wonderfully generous restaurant this is ♥ Unless you're eating solo, order two bowls and definitely get the banh xeo with it.

Pickled onions and pickled chilies come as basic side dishes — can't have pho without them.
Beef tripe pho, beef pho, chicken rice-crust pho, butter shrimp fried rice — since there were three of us, we each ordered our own bowl of pho and added the butter shrimp fried rice too. You can select the free banh xeo gift on the table order screen, so be sure to check that box and eat it together.

The food came out fast. The presentation was incredible — a slightly fusion-ish take on pho, but the combination of ingredients was absolutely not lacking in flavor.
A table completely full of food, banh xeo included, felt so satisfying. The fried rice looked great too, nice and fluffy ><

Beef tripe pho: the best hangover cure on the menu
The beef tripe pho at Cheongsapo Rice Noodles came loaded with tripe and had a strong smoky char flavor. Tripe and pho together — I couldn't resist. Mouth was watering, so I dug right in.

The noodle thickness was just right and cooked perfectly soft. Loaded with bean sprouts and vegetables, with that smoky char flavor — really delicious.

The tripe and beef fat mixed together for a deep, spicy broth. Wow, I thought, this would be perfect for a hangover. And since I'd been drinking the night before, it really was the perfect hangover cure haha.

Spicy beef pho, plus noodle and bean sprout refills
My friend ordered the spicy beef pho. Noodles and bean sprouts can be refilled, so finish what you have and add as much as you want!

When each person orders their own bowl, noodle and bean sprout refills come with it. The initial noodle portion isn't huge, so it's perfect to eat what you have and then add more.

Chicken rice-crust pho comes with a whole chicken leg
I was really curious about the chicken rice-crust pho. You just stir the rice crust into the broth. And the size of the chicken leg — is this real? A huge whole chicken leg is dropped right in.

The smoked chicken leg meat was full of char flavor. The broth was spicy yet refreshing. The chicken was tender and soft, pairing really well with the noodles. It genuinely tasted like a localized version of pho, which I loved.

How to eat the free banh xeo and butter shrimp fried rice
They recommended wrapping the banh xeo in the rice paper provided along with the pickled onions. For the fried rice, mix it in with the sauce.
The rice paper was easy to soften by swirling it in warm water. Eaten alone it can feel a bit heavy, so I tried wrapping in various fillings.

The bean sprouts, pineapple, and pickled onions inside the crispy batter went really well together — delicious. The textures you get bite after bite are great too.

The banh xeo disappeared so fast it was almost gone before I knew it haha. The batter was super crispy and fried perfectly.

The fried rice, with shrimp and butter working well together, was great as a palate cleanser. Worth ordering as a side to go with the pho — it also pairs surprisingly well with the pho broth (dipping it in the broth is even better, not-so-secretly).

Who should eat at Cheongsapo Rice Noodles?
Cilantro can be added for free or as a paid option through the table order. I'm not usually a cilantro person, but the broth had plenty of deep flavor even without it — a really satisfying meal.
- Recommended if you want to try a unique take on pho in Cheongsapo
- Feels localized while still carrying Korean-style flavor
- A romantic meal with sea views
- Recommended for a filling meal thanks to the free banh xeo
Of all the pho I've eaten, Cheongsapo Rice Noodles was the most unique and delicious. I'm so happy to know Haeundae has hidden gem restaurants like this. And eating a relaxed meal while soaking in the Cheongsapo atmosphere was really lovely too.
I'd gotten a bit tired of always eating grilled shellfish or raw fish here, so this was such a nice, light option. If you're looking for a clean, well-designed restaurant in Cheongsapo, I'd definitely recommend a visit.
