Chicken rice-crust pho lunch in Cheongsapo: Cheongsapo Rice Noodles

In short

Cheongsapo Rice Noodles Main Branch (Cheongsapo Ssal Guksu Bonjeom) is an Asian noodle restaurant on the Cheongsapo waterfront in Haeundae, Busan, where you eat pho with an ocean view. Three of us had lunch with beef pho and chicken rice-crust pho, plus the complimentary banh xeo and a side of fried rice, and the rice-crust broth with a whole chicken leg was the most filling bowl. Cheongsapo Rice Noodles sits close to Blue Line Park's Cheongsapo Station, so it works well as a lunch stop on a Cheongsapo trip.

A Haeundae, Busan restaurant that changed what I thought pho could be — Cheongsapo Rice Noodles Main Branch is perfect for lunch 🍜 The atmosphere, with a view of the Cheongsapo sea while you eat, was flawless too, so I wanted to share my review!

Sea view on the way to Cheongsapo Rice Noodles

It's located right on the Cheongsapo coast in Busan, so you get sea views on the way there, and even inside the restaurant you get that Cheongsapo ocean view — so it wasn't just the food, the atmosphere itself won me over at this Haeundae favorite, Cheongsapo Rice Noodles 🍜

Ocean-view seats and the dining room at Cheongsapo Rice Noodles

Cheongsapo Rice Noodles Main Branch has ocean-view seating where you can see the Cheongsapo sea through the windows, and high chairs are available too, so it's a great Cheongsapo spot for family gatherings. Thanks to the ocean view, the place also had an exotic feel, like a Vietnamese coastal town.

Interior decor with a Vietnamese coastal vibe

Thanks to the cute little decor pieces and interior, it felt like a little getaway while eating in Cheongsapo 🏝️ The sea view outside the window was pretty gorgeous, so I think it'd be even better coming for a meal on a nice-weather day.

The menu and the free banh xeo with one pho per person

This place serves authentic pho learned in Vietnam, but with a Korean-style smoky char to it. The main menu has pho plus side dishes, and if you order one pho per person, you get banh xeo (Vietnamese savory pancake) free ⭐️ We ordered two: chicken rice-crust pho and beef pho!

Getting banh xeo along with the pho made it feel like great value, and other reviews I'd seen also raved about the free banh xeo, so I had high expectations! Definitely take part in the receipt review event haha.

Table setting with pho and complimentary banh xeo

So generous!! The portion of the complimentary banh xeo was plenty too. My mouth was watering just looking at it haha.

What does the beef pho broth taste like?

Beef pho piled generously with beef

The beef pho at Cheongsapo Rice Noodles came piled with tender, smoky beef, and the broth was clean yet deep with beefy flavor — really delicious!

Pho topped with bean sprouts and onions
A spoonful of pho noodles and broth

Eating it with the bean sprouts and onions added a nice crunchy texture, and you can also add cilantro or sauce to your taste. Personally I kept spooning up the broth — it was light yet had such savory depth, I was so satisfied.

Chicken rice-crust pho: a bowl with a whole chicken leg

Chicken rice-crust pho topped with a chicken leg

The dish I'd been most excited for — chicken rice-crust pho 🐓 It came with a huge chicken leg on top, so it looked hearty right from the start. The chicken was tender and easy to pull apart, and the broth wasn't spicy or heavy, but rich and toasty. The rice crust (nurungji) in particular gave it a distinctly Korean charm compared to regular pho! With such a big chicken leg, one bowl left me pretty full.

Crispy complimentary banh xeo

Eating the complimentary banh xeo wrapped in rice paper

Thanks to the thin pancake batter, the outside was crispy while the inside was packed with vegetables and shrimp — savory and full of umami even eaten plain!

Rolling the banh xeo with the accompanying veggies in rice paper and dipping it in sauce gave it a whole different flavor! The crispy banh xeo plus crunchy vegetables made it light, not greasy, so my hand kept reaching for more ❤️

Side fried rice with shrimp

Lunch for three: was the side of fried rice too much food?

The side fried rice portion seemed to be about a full bowl of rice on its own. It had plenty of shrimp and was generous, so for three people, two bowls of pho, the free banh xeo, and one fried rice were plenty ~ The rice grains were nicely chewy too!!

The bungeo-ssamanko we got from the receipt review event! It was perfect for dessert :)

Is Cheongsapo Rice Noodles a good lunch stop on a Cheongsapo trip?

The food was delicious, but the ocean view made it taste even better — Cheongsapo Rice Noodles, a Haeundae, Busan favorite.

It's also close to Blue Line Park's Cheongsapo Station, making it a fitting meal spot during a Cheongsapo trip ~ You can enjoy great food along with the Cheongsapo sea, so be sure to stop by when you visit Cheongsapo!
