Seasonal fig cake with an ice pack at a Busan cake shop: Sijeunikeu
In short
Sijeunikeu Shinsegae Department Store Centum City Branch is a seasonal fresh fruit cake shop in the basement 1st floor dessert food hall of Shinsegae in Haeundae, Busan, directly connected to Centum City Station on Subway Line 2. An autumn fig cake in the mini size was picked up to go, and a dedicated ice pack tucked inside the cake box kept the cake's shape and freshness intact all the way home. Not too sweet and densely packed with fresh figs, it is a premium cake worth sharing with parents and older family.

I was craving a sweet fresh fruit dessert for a special day, so I stopped by Sijeunikeu, a fresh fruit cake shop that's gotten hot for its visual of fruit cascading down like a waterfall. I happened to pack up a fresh, in-season fig cake in a mini size to take home, so here's my honest review.
Where is Sijeunikeu at Shinsegae Centum City, and where do you park?

Sijeunikeu Shinsegae Department Store Centum City Branch is located in the sweet/dessert food hall on basement level 1 of Shinsegae Department Store Centum City, which connects directly to Centum City Station on subway line 2. The showcase, gorgeous and piled high with fruit, catches your eye right away in the basement food hall so it's easy to find. As for parking, you can use the underground parking at the Shinsegae Centum City main building and mall. Just make sure to ask for free parking validation after you buy your cake~
What the Sijeunikeu cake shop near Centum City Station is like

This is a seasonal fresh fruit cake specialty shop that strictly follows a same-day-made, same-day-sold rule, carefully selecting two of the sweetest, freshest seasonal fruits each season. Their signature Nongjang Wareureu ('farm overflowing') series, first developed by Sijeunikeu itself, is all about that visual of fruit spilling and overflowing off the cake.

When I visited, the showcase was gorgeously decked out with fruit cakes made from figs and peaches at peak sweetness for autumn. The brand's signature mango wareureu cake was also standing out with its glowing yellow color! They had everything from mini sizes to whole cake sizes, which made it easy to pick according to what I needed.

If you ask for packaging, they can also add an ice pack bag (for an extra charge).

There was a crunchy, nutty topping sprinkled over the fig cake, which made it taste even better.

Mini fig cake pickup at Sijeunikeu: taste and ice pack packaging

I picked up a mini-sized fig cake to go, since figs really let you taste the season at its best. I was worried the cake might collapse or get messed up on the way home. But thanks to their careful packaging — placing a dedicated ice pack inside the cake box — it stayed perfectly cold and fresh the whole way home! Even if your commute takes a bit of time, you can buy with confidence.

The moment I opened the box, a pleasant nutty milk cream scent and sweet fig aroma drifted up. Even though it was a mini size, fresh figs were packed generously not just on top but all through the layers between the cake sheets.

Taking a heaping spoonful, the soft fresh figs that pop gently in your mouth, the light dairy whipped cream with zero heaviness, and the moist cake sheets all came together in a fantastic combination! It wasn't overly sweet, and the clean flavor made it a wonderful premium cake to enjoy with parents or other adults.
For a special anniversary, or when you want to gift someone unique and delicious moment, or when you're just craving a fresh fruit cake as a gift, this is the place I'll come back to without a second thought. If you're looking for a truly delicious dessert cake in Centum City, Busan, I recommend Sijeunikeu on the basement floor of Shinsegae~!
