Yeoju tonkatsu lunch with a baby: high chair and parking at Gyugyu

Hi, I'm Yoon's mom. I went to the Yeoju outlets for the first time in a while and got such a craving for crispy fried tonkatsu that I stopped by Gyugyu Donkatsu.

(The sign alone already smells like a good restaurant.)

Gyugyu Donkatsu is on the 1st floor of 57 Junae-ro, Yeoju-si, Gyeonggi-do. Hours are Tue–Sun 11:00–21:00, closed Mondays, with a break time of 15:00–17:00 (lunch last order 14:30). Parking is free.

The parking lot at Gyugyu Donkatsu is as big and roomy as the signage promises. You can park right in front of the restaurant,

and there's a genuinely huge lot behind the building too, so no worries even on weekends.

A clean, spacious dining room that fits big groups

The interior was really clean — clean enough that it felt like a brand-new opening.

I guess I found a good restaurant... even during this slightly early lunch hour it was already packed with customers.

I took these seating photos after some of the crowd cleared out. From two-tops to group tables, it seemed like a great date spot, and there were plenty of seats for families or groups too.

Eating out with a 9-month-old: is there a baby chair?

Gyugyu Donkatsu has a baby chair too 🖤 Our big baby has gotten so active at 9 months... we sat her right in the baby chair the moment we arrived haha.

How clean is the open kitchen at Gyugyu Donkatsu?

Check out how clean the kitchen was... so spotless ✨ I used to be a dietitian, so I can tell right away when I look at a kitchen haha...! To keep an open kitchen this clean? You can trust the food with confidence 👍🏻

They even have a separate noodle-making room, so it looks like they make their own noodles in-house. No wonder the noodles felt different from typical ramen noodles!

Even the self-serve refill bar at Gyugyu Donkatsu was spotless. Even though it's a space customers use themselves, there wasn't a single spill anywhere.

Unlimited Yeoju rice refills with every set

Since Gyugyu Donkatsu is a well-known Yeoju restaurant, they use Yeoju rice, which is famous for its great taste.

And this delicious rice is even un-li-mi-ted (honestly, after finishing all my food, I went back for extra rice alone ^^)

There's a sink in the restaurant so you can wash your hands without going to the restroom. Such a thoughtful touch! Of course there's a separate restroom too, and it's conveniently located inside the store!

Gyugyu Donkatsu menu and prices

Gyugyu Donkatsu's three signature items are the lunch chashu-men + sirloin + fillet set ₩16,000, the lunch Taiwan ramen + sirloin + fillet set ₩16,000, and the signature Gyugyu menchi katsu ₩15,000.

They also have a variety of tonkatsu options like loin katsu, fillet katsu, negi katsu, and shrimp katsu, rice dishes like katsu-don, cheese katsu-don, and chicken hot-pot rice, plus Taiwan ramen, chashu-men, and cold yuzu ramen — really a wide range of menu items.

Ordering is done via kiosk.

A tonkatsu restaurant whose ramen is just as good

What I ordered: the Gyugyu solo Taiwan ramen set ₩19,000 and the Gyugyu menchi katsu ₩15,000.

The Gyugyu solo Taiwan ramen set comes with Taiwan ramen plus loin katsu. The portion is really generous, right...?

Each table also has salad sauce, tonkatsu sauce, and sesame seeds, so you can season to your taste! My husband and I love sesame, so we ground tons of it into the tonkatsu sauce~~~

Thick-cut sirloin katsu

First, the loin katsu that comes with the 'Gyugyu solo Taiwan ramen set.' The thickness of the meat is no joke, right? It was thick but still tender.

Turns out Gyugyu Donkatsu runs a family butcher shop, so they make the tonkatsu with fresh meat from there every day.

The tonkatsu sauce tasted like the classic sauce we all know, but with sesame mixed in it was extra nutty and savory.

The signature Gyugyu menchi katsu

Gyugyu Donkatsu's signature dish, the menchi katsu. One bite and you understand why it's the signature item. It's so soft, and the juices burst out. If you make menchi katsu wrong, it turns out really dry... but Gyugyu Donkatsu's menchi katsu is pure moistness itself.

And unusually, the menchi katsu has broccoli, eggplant, and shiitake mushroom inside, which gave it a fun texture — and since those are moisture-rich ingredients, they made the menchi katsu twice as juicy.

The main event: Taiwan ramen with pork-bone broth

And now, the much-anticipated Taiwan ramen. Since it's a tonkatsu specialty restaurant, I honestly had zero expectations for the ramen... but from the first sip of the broth, my husband and I both went 'wow, this place is a ramen spot too.' It was that good.

It's a really rich, spicy pork-bone-based ramen, and the broth was so thick it almost felt viscous. (Spiciness is just a bit hotter than Shin Ramyun!)

About three slices of chashu and even a soft-boiled egg! It really had been a while since I had such a satisfying lunch — Gyugyu Donkatsu, truly a great lunch spot in Yeoju!

Gyugyu Donkatsu is great for a date with your partner, and also great for family or group gatherings. Plus, with its spacious layout and a baby chair on hand, it was so convenient to bring a baby along, just like I did.
