In short
Ssosam 208 Siheung Baegot Branch is a pork belly BBQ restaurant in Baegot, Siheung, where the staff grill the meat for you at the table. The writer came for a family dinner and ordered samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly) with cold buckwheat noodle soup, pork belly cheese kimchi fried rice, and flying fish roe egg custard, and the kids ate well too. With kimchi and bean sprouts frying in the side compartment of the grill and cooked meat kept warm in the inner section, Ssosam 208 works for both family meals and group dinners.

Ssosam 208 Baegot Branch: a Siheung pork belly BBQ spot with a playful name
I recently went to Ssosam 208 Siheung Baegot Branch for a family dinner. It's a pork belly BBQ restaurant in Baegot, Siheung, and at first I wondered what "Ssosam" meant — turns out it's a mash-up of "soju" and "samgyeopsal" (pork belly).
Soju and pork belly is such a classic combo that the name really stuck with me.

What the dining room and seating are like
Walking in, the space was really spacious — it seemed great for group dinners or family outings!

Which sauces and side dishes come with the pork belly
Ssosam 208 Baegot Branch had several sauces to dip the meat in. Salt, ssamjang, wasabi sauce — with so many combinations to try, it was fun picking and choosing.

There was also salted anchovy paste (melजeot) and pickled mountain garlic leaves (myeongi-namul) that went well with the meat. (They cut through the richness of the meat while adding a tangy note — a really nice match.)

Staff grill the pork belly for you at the table
What I liked most about this visit to Ssosam 208 Baegot Branch was that staff grilled the meat themselves. When you go out to eat as a family, someone often ends up flipping and grilling the whole time instead of actually eating. And with a bigger group dinner, it can get a little awkward figuring out who's on grill duty.
At Ssosam 208 Baegot Branch, staff handled the grilling, so we could just sit back, chat, and eat comfortably. It made me think this place would work well not just for family meals but also for company dinners or gatherings.

Kimchi and bean sprouts frying in the grill's side compartment
As the pork belly cooks, it naturally renders fat. There's a separate compartment on the grill where kimchi and bean sprouts stir-fry in that fat. The kimchi is advertised as HACCP-certified, which made it a bit more reassuring to eat.

The kimchi and bean sprouts mingle with the fat and turn into something like a stir-fry, and eating it alongside the meat was really good (looking at these photos makes me want more 🤭).

The warming section that keeps grilled meat hot
One more thing! There's a separate spot on the inner part of the grill to keep the meat warm once it's cooked. When you grill all the pork belly at once, it can cool down fast while you're eating, but here the finished meat stays warm. It felt like they'd thought carefully about the whole process, from grilling to eating.

Cold noodle soup, cheese kimchi fried rice, and flying fish roe egg custard with the kids
The cold noodle soup (mul-naengmyeon) was also delicious and great alongside the meat. A bite of the cool noodles between mouthfuls of meat felt refreshing, and the kids ate more of it than I expected. It was satisfying to enjoy not just the meat but the noodles together with the kids too!

The pork belly cheese kimchi fried rice was tasty too. It wasn't too spicy, so it worked fine for the kids, and the generous layer of cheese on top added a nice savory note. The combo of pork belly, kimchi fried rice, and cheese worked really well — a good finishing dish after the meat.

Since just meat felt like it wasn't quite enough, I also ordered the flying fish roe egg custard separately. The soft, silky egg custard topped with flying fish roe gave a nice popping texture. The custard was gentle enough to eat alongside the pork belly without feeling heavy, and the kids enjoyed it too.
Is Ssosam 208 Baegot worth it for a family dinner?
Visiting with the kids, we enjoyed everything from the meat to the noodle soup to the fried rice, dish by dish. It worked well for a family meal, and if you're looking for a BBQ spot for a company dinner or gathering, it's worth a visit.
