Yangju Okjeong tonkatsu with unlimited rice and salad: Himawari
In short
Himawari Yangju Okjeong Main Branch is a tonkatsu (pork cutlet) restaurant on the first floor of the central shopping arcade in Okjeong-dong, Yangju, Gyeonggi. Two of us shared the Assorted Katsu 2 (hire katsu) and the pan-soba set (rosu katsu) at prices in the low 10,000 won range, with unlimited rice and salad and a sauce you make by grinding sesame seeds at the table. The portions were generous enough that two women left a little behind, so one set plus one soup dish is the combo to order at Himawari.

Meokttoday here 🐷 Today I'm introducing a tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet) hotspot in Yangju's Okjeong-dong — 'Himawari'!
Where is Himawari in Yangju Okjeong-dong, plus parking and hours
Himawari Yangju Okjeong Main Branch is at 108-105 Okjeongdongno7da-gil, Yangju-si, Gyeonggi-do, in the Okjeong-dong central shopping street. Apparently the Okjeong branch is actually the main branch! Being right in the central shopping street makes it super convenient — great for hitting a nearby café or Daiso after your tonkatsu haha!
☀️Hours☀️ 11:00–21:00, last order 20:55 / 🚘Parking🚘 Available at Dream Tower 2

Being on the first floor of the central shopping street makes it really easy to visit! It's also connected to the parking tower haha.

Inside Himawari: the room and how long you wait
Himawari's interior is clean and well put together in a white-wood tone. There aren't that many tables!! So it's not noisy haha. If you visit on a weekend lunch, expect some waiting time. Please keep that in mind!

Apparently if you write a Naver review you get fish katsu, chicken katsu, or a drink!! Don't miss events like this 🫠

Tablet ordering and unlimited rice and salad at Himawari
Ordering at Himawari is done via tablet!! Rice and salad are unlimited, so if you need more, just ask and they'll bring it out ❤️

After you order, they give you sesame seeds to grind yourself, and then pour the tonkatsu sauce over it!! You get to enjoy a really nutty, delicious sauce ~^^

Assorted Katsu 2 and the pan-soba set in the low 10,000 won range
The food arrived! Looks so good... ㅠㅠㅠㅠ We ordered Assorted Katsu 2 and the pan-soba set. The prices are really cheap!! You can enjoy them for low ₩10,000s!! For the pan-soba we chose rosu katsu, and for the assorted katsu we chose hire katsu!

The set came with crab croquette, cheese katsu, and hire katsu! From the first bite you can feel the crispy coating and the juicy, flavorful meat!! You can really tell this is a well-made tonkatsu. The coating is crispy without being too thick, so the meat's natural flavor really shines — crispy outside, tender inside, amazing......

There's really, really a lot of cheese in there. It was delicious and high quality!! The price is so cheap, does the owner even make any profit...?! I have to support this place more~~~~~~~

How was the pan-soba set with rosu katsu?
The pan-soba set came with a generous amount of broth too, and dipping the springy buckwheat noodles in it was really delicious!!! A lot of places don't give you radish and wasabi, but here they gave us plenty, which made it even tastier! It paired really well with the tonkatsu too... tonkatsu and cold soba together — a perfect match~~~~^^ Ate so, so well haha.

The fat ratio was just right too, the cheese was overflowing, and the hire was so, so tender... overall everything was super crispy!!

The best Himawari combo to order for two
I didn't expect much from the crab croquette either, but it was nutty and crispy, and I could really tell it stood out from other places. Ate it so happily haha. Grinding the sesame yourself and dipping it into the sweet-and-tangy sauce made it taste even nuttier and more delicious! I think the sauce played a big part in that~~~!~!
Ate well again today!! If two of you visit, I think the best move is to order one tonkatsu set plus one soup-based dish like soba or udon and split them! The set portions are pretty generous too — when the two of us ate, we barely had a tiny bit left over haha. The salad dressing is seriously delicious, so make sure to add extra and get seconds!! Rice is refillable too, so keep that in mind everyone!! haha
