Ebi fry Assorted C at Himawari, a Yangju Okjeong tonkatsu restaurant

I wanted to eat some good tonkatsu with my baby, so this time we went to Himawari Yangju Okjeong Main Branch in Okjeong, Yangju :)

They have a wide variety of tonkatsu and assorted plates too, so it was a good spot for a parent-and-baby visit like ours 💛

Himawari Yangju Okjeong Main Branch is near the Okjeong central shopping street, so it wasn't hard to find, and since it's inside a building, it was convenient to visit by car :)

Hours are daily 11:00–21:00, with last order at 20:55. It's listed as running with no break time, so it seemed like a good option to visit a bit past lunch time too 😊

Parking is available at Dream Tower 2, so we used it comfortably 😊 Good to keep in mind if you're planning a visit!💕

Himawari is on the first floor of the building, so it was easy to spot even just passing by. The clean exterior and Himawari sign caught our eye, and we walked right in haha

Inside Himawari: seating that works with a baby

Inside, the atmosphere was clean and cozy overall. The tables were comfortably arranged, so it was fine to eat with a baby, and other visitor reviews also mentioned family outings and visits with kids 😊

With its tidy vibe, it felt comfortable for family meals, but also for dates or solo dining.

Himawari has a wide range of menus, from basic tonkatsu to hire katsu (fillet cutlet), rosu katsu (loin cutlet), cheese katsu, fish katsu, and chicken katsu.

They also have assorted plates ready, so it's a great pick if you want to try several kinds at once. That day we ordered Assorted C and the sweet potato cheese tonkatsu 🤎 Himawari's Assorted C is made up of cheese katsu + ebi fry (fried shrimp) + katsu.

How do the katsu, cheese katsu and ebi fry in Assorted C taste?

The tonkatsu sauce was set aside separately so you could pour as much as you liked to suit your taste 🤎

First up, Himawari's Assorted C, which I ordered to share with my baby! With several menus arriving together on one plate, it looked hearty and it was fun to pick through each one haha

The crispy fried katsu was crunchy outside and moist inside, so it was delicious, and once cut into bite sizes for the baby, she ate better than I expected 🥰

The cheese katsu that came with Assorted C had a savory cheese flavor layered in with the first bite, giving it a charm quite different from plain katsu 🧀

The ebi fry also had a crispy coating with plump, springy shrimp inside, making it a great side to pair with the rest.

Himawari's sweet potato cheese tonkatsu

And here's the sweet potato cheese tonkatsu 🍠🧀 that my partner ordered. Sweet potato and cheese are tucked inside the crispy tonkatsu, so the sweet and savory flavors went really well together.

It was softer and sweeter than regular tonkatsu, so it seemed like a good menu to share with a baby too haha It was tasty dipped in tonkatsu sauce, and also tasty just on its own for that sweet, savory sweet potato cheese flavor 💕

Final verdict: which Himawari dish is easiest to share with a baby?

Visiting with my baby this time, I was satisfied to get to taste several kinds of tonkatsu with Assorted C!

When looking for something to eat together with a baby, you want something not too strongly flavored, that can be easily cut into soft bites :) My baby ate the tonkatsu well too, so it was a fine choice for a family meal out 🥰
